What's in a unit? Need parameters for a Unit Creator...

It's not easy creating an entire faction or era. Post your work and collaborate in this forum.

What's in a unit? Need parameters for a Unit Creator...

Post by PacoTheInvinvible »

I am making a BfW Unit Creator! :D
Called UnitGen, it is made in VB and will be a Windows GUI app.
I need all the stats (name, faction, alignment, etc.) that will be needed :hmm:
Thanks :!:

Ha, funny...

I suppose it makes you windows guys feel better, realizing you've payed hundreds of pounds/dollars/miscellaneous currency for some virus-filled rubbish, you need to feel special once in awhile :P

OK ok ok... *SO much fanfare*

Well... I do feel bad about those with the "Inferior OS"... (I typically use a mac, but does mac make a click and drag app designer? nooo...)

Oh, by the way, sotamos, ease off on the blood-covered swords! try a half-bloodied sword... post that.

Well, If you guys like, I'll make it, since it is useful for the add-on people.

Oh, by the way...
You (sotamos) could probably get more support for your art in an art forum.

Could anybody who cares sketch a rough draft of what this creator would look like? Thanks!

Paco:

Good luck on this. A few others on this board are also making unit creator apps. I myself am writing one in C++, while a user named xer is writing another in Python. However, it sounds like you will be more easily able to create a gui for your app. Currently, mine asks you questions, you type in answers one at a time, and it generates a semi-working unit file.

Well, thank you.
I do think that the GUI will be better, and that's why I used Visual Studio.
How is the file that your creator organized? What is the file extension (.___, like .exe is an executable for a pc) for these files? .CFG? Where to they get placed?
Also, the pictures will be a problem... the user might have to go as far as to type in the filepath for the images theirselves. :(
