I was playing a game with the Kalifa today, and was surprised to see a unit named "Allah". This seems inappropriate for a unit name. Should it be removed from the random name list?
Hmm, on looking at the list I don't seem to see "Allah" by itself, though it is included in other names. Perhaps I don't understand how naming works.

You define a list of names, takes little 2-letter chunks of them, figures out what usually comes after what, and then mixes them up. So if there's a name Doremi and another Heresy, it'll see that it can start with He or Do, he or do should both be followed by re, and re should be followed by mi or sy; it'll then generate the names Heremi and Doresy as well as the defined names.rchandra wrote:Perhaps I don't understand how naming works.
Of course, all the real names lists have, like, 50-100 names, so it's very likely that something unexpected will be generated, which is why you get Orcish Slayers named Pink and Woses named Bumbumbumbumbubum.

I was playing with the dark elves today vs a computer player, and it seems to me that they are underpowered compaired to the other races.

first problem was that you played against a computer, which is unreliable when testing. (they do funny things). also you were a bit vague. who were you playing against?

Hello all,
I started working on a campaign based on the Aragwaithi but after starting to write the storyline, I thought I should contact the creator of this faction in order to keep its spirit.
I have to say that I don't have the courage to read all the topic to find out who I have to contact. So, I ask you: who's working on the Aragwaithi?
If they were invented as a "homeless faction", I think it might be nice to create one using what's already there with this campaign.

I started to play with some of the other factions, and I think that my first conclusion was wrong. The chaos humans are stronger, but slightly more expensive.
EDIT: is there anyone curently working on the faction? I would like to change some of the resistances and add a melee attack to the wizard line
changed resistance of fire and cold to 10% on all units
changed resistance of warrior to -10% pierce
changed resistance of enchantress to -20% pierce
changed resistances of lizard rider to as follows: blade 0%, pierce -20%, impact 20%, fire 30%, cold -10%, arcane 0%
changed hunters crossbow to do poison damage
added "fist" attack to wizard and sorcerer. 4-1 and 5-2 respectivly

Chaos might be a bit overpowered, and playing once v. the computer just indicates you might need to spend some more time learning how to play the dark elves. Play quite a few games in various matchups, probably saving some replays.

when possible, I always recruit a wose. It gives me a quick laugh.

my teammates keep getting OOS everytime i recruit with the dark elves, and on the status table it shows i have more money then reality. I have verified that we all are using the same version, but the OOS continue to show.

A small change is needed in the Extend Dawarves recruit list (dwarves-extended.cfg) because they don't have archers - this causes the AI to stop recruiting for that turn.
could change to:
recruitment_pattern=fighter,fighter,fighter,mixed fighter,scout,scout
because they have three different scouts (axerunner/steamwheel/gyrocopter).
Though the AI only seems to use the copters anyway... (others relatively too weak?)

Great work on EE, it is very fun to play
Just a question about outlaw princess,
i used to love playing outlaws with her as leader
but now i find her near useless
she lost skirmish, 2 move and some dmg in return for distract
while distract sounds nice, it is almost useless, only unit that really benefits is the thief, which gets skirmish at lvl 2 anyway.
on large maps she moves too slow to use the ability
on isars it is too easy to nullify it
MY suggestion would be to either return her to previous stats, or add 2 movement

I will probably do a post to explain these techniques so other era maintainers can learn how we can do and use stuff like this.
