Seeing that village right next to the wasteland makes me wonder what a wasteland village might look like (sitting on a wasteland/encrusted lava tile).

It would look destroyed. Who lives on crusty lava anyway? :D

With all of the different factions/races, I'm sure that one of them might find it hospitable.

Drakes could probably live on it.

Now, if someone could just figure out what a drake village might look like.

I think something like a dead volcano might make sense...

Woot, wastelands. Make them 1 movement for land units but low defense for every unit - we have high-defense-low-movement, high-defense-high-movement, and low-defense-high-movement, and the lack of the other is often a nuisance when making maps. It would also provide a terrain which is low defense for all units, which would be another useful utility for map-makers.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

oh yeah, since Dwarves did get nerfed on it...

Nevertheless, there are several reasons that using snow isn't so nice...

Like you can't use snow next to lava.

You can use canyon instead of lava, can't you?

I think we've pushing the limits of KISS with the number distinct terrain types as it is. (I.E. terrains with different movement and defense atributes)

We've got 14:
Canyon/Lava
Village
Cave
Cavewall
Shallow water
Mountains
Grassland
Deep_water
Swamp_water
Tundra
Sand
Forest
Hills
Castle
I'm not sure if the impassable mountains will need to be a new movetype or not.

By the way i think some of these names should change, "grassland" represents lots of non-grassy terrains.
Feel free to PM me if you start a new terrain oriented thread. It's easy for me to miss them among all the other art threads.

I suggest plains, because all the terrain types it represents are plain.
