I agree, particularly having seen the reference. Otherwise, it looks beautiful as always.

Only two nitpicks. I think maybe the line color could be a bit darker in parts. The lines around the face kinda create a weird contrast at that value that might be exacerbated when it's put onto a black background, but perhaps not. Also, the perspective on the spearhead looks a little funky, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong. It's a metal spear underwater, who knows how they make those things, it could just be an asymmetrical spearhead. but to me it looks like i'ts kind of twisting.

I just found the WSAS threads- exciting work, great job! My one comment is that I like how you're revealing the entire tail of the merfolk by working a different part into each portrait composition.

Final version - changed some of the line colouring and the spear head per Justin's suggestions.

Next one will be the Spearman/Javelineer, but it will take a few days till I update again. I'll be gone for the next couple of days and be back on tuesday.
I hope I'll get a bit of my enthusiasm for doing wesnoth artwork back over that break, doing all those portraits ina row is really starting to take its toll on me...

I'm really liking the mixture of roman and polynesian/hawaiian elements here. Nice work =D

Committed the Hunter.

His right arm looks really long. It might be from the armor on it, but I think it may actually be to long. The [our] right shoulder is lower than the [our] left shoulder but the [our] right arm ends just a little lower than the [our] left arm, but, the fingers on the [our] left arm are bent.

If the fingers on HIS right arm weren't bent around the spear his arms would be the same length. Which shouldn't happen due to his shoulder height.

Sorry if that was confusing, I don't know how else to say it.

Other than that it looks great :)!

kitty -- just a quick note to say I *love* the design you've created for the merman spearman;
your art is outstanding, as usual! 8)

Update, shading pretty much finished.

EDIT: Tiny edits to the face. He's finished now, should be used as Spearman and Javelineer. On to the Netcaster...

His face feels perhaps a little flat, but otherwise he looks great. Nice work =) I really like this guy's look, as I've said before.

Flat? I'm thinking the face is the most 3D-looking part of the whole portrait (except for the eyes, maybe). Looks great.

I think it's the bit where there's little bit coming out past the cheekbone on our left - it feels slightly like the face is coming slightly unwrapped from the skull IYSWIM. Sounds odd, but you're welcome to overrule me if you like =)

Looks more like a mask to me. Like one of those shakespeare mask things. I think it's due to the straight dark line on the sides of the face.
