IMO after we get Wesnoth working with OpenGL, we should try to dynamically generate shadows, and see how well we can get it working.

What would be really cool is having shadows that are cast in different directions at different times of day. Of course, that would have the disadvantage of having the shadows for units cast differently to the shadows inherent to terrain, but I still think it could look good if done well.
