Did we ever get woses?

Post by Pickslide »

There are some pretty pretty pictures floating around in these forums nowdays!

It doesn't look like we ever got new woses though...

I promise I'm doing an Asheviere portrait, I sketched it out and everything. But between work and life now, I'm short on time. I'll try to pop up once in a while.

I'm pretty sure those go way out of the hex, and they're facing the wrong direction.

Style seems good, but I thought Neo was redoing the Woses.

I'm not sure the team-colored eyes are a good idea. I like the fruits, though.

:? Those have some cool ideas in them - I should warn, though, that those have very "flat" shading; almost as though they're a statue cut in light relief, rather than in the round.

It would be in the first, and second-order harmonics that major reworking needs to be done.

Well, for what it's worth, I like these better then the current ones and better then Neo's. Not sure about those eyes though...

Yeah, I checked. The L2 is just out, but could be fixed easily. The L3 is another story though.

Units face diagonally, not sideways.

That's because all we ever get are ugly woses, including my own, and including this one.

The concept for these ones is nice though.

I would say that the biggest problem with these is that the green leafy areas don't look like leaves, more like play dough. This is probably because it is too smooth. The pixels' shades should be more noisy, since each pixel is an amalgam of several leaves, but not so many that it should be smooth. I hope I am making myself clear.

Just for reference. The final row is a 5min hack hybrid.

Redeth's 5-min-hack actually looks decent. I think that we should go with it - it just needs some more touching up.

Yeah, they look really good, my only concern is the arms on the west side of the hex kinda blend into the trunk and shadow. If you could clear that up a little bit those will look awesome.

Oh, I know you took the straight-line beard shading from Neo, but I think you should alter that a little too.

Awesome job for 5 minutes though. :!:

What's so special about 5 minutes? Most sprites take that long.

Anyway, I reshaded the hack a bit.

I like the idea of not having them bipedal anymore... makes them less antropomorphic
