Being able to grab a village with your leader on the first turn is a pretty common situation. Not that there's any necessary reason for it, though.

A great many previews, stolen from the future-world of our next release:

2ps

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/jun ... attlefield
(mostly aesthetic changes)

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/junehamlets

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/junesullas
(A few small terrain changes. Note that this does not include the central statue (on 10, 10), as the true release will.)

3ps

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/june3pmorituri
(Moved a few villages and made other small changes.)

4ps

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/jun ... oppingIsle
(De-Saurianized the central area of the map, cutting a lot of swamp and sand. Other minor changes.)

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/jun ... erprovince
(Very minor changes.)

5ps

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/juneforestoffear
(Made mostly aesthetic changes to this map. I don't think this Ancient One will ever be fully balanced, but it's still a fun option.)

6ps

Smallolof has been renamed "Amohsad Caldera." I made a few small changes to the interior, and reworked the borders to try to convey the "caldera" concept.

I've made a drastic revision of Hornshark Island, which significantly reduces the power and mobility of flying units in general and the Knalgan faction in particular. It will be appearing in the next release; feel free to try it out.

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/jul ... hebasilisk

I'm emphasizing this fix again, because a lot of people missed it.

It corrects the accidental deletion of two villages on Caves of the Basilisk, and further improves the map.

The important thing to remember is this:

Save it in the same place (Wesnoth/Data/Maps/Multiplayer) and with the same name as the old one.

Otherwise, the statues will not appear, and the balace in the center will be slightly askew.

Three of the latest updates/fixes:

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/Aug ... harkIsland

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/AugustMorituri4
(replaced a missing swamp hex)

http://star.walagata.com/w/paterson/Aug ... stoneDelta

Hornshark Island and Sablestone Delta have been, in my opinion, greatly improved.

Doc should I start posting some potential changes up here? CHI and FF are more or less done and the new Manzivan Traps is done which will come out with the first post 2.0 release (awaiting translation).

P.S. really like the HSI and SSD changes.

The 18.19 village is still out of place IMO on FoF. Does changing the player positions at least make it more easily attainable for it's intended player?

-edit-

Also, the Hornshark island changes look really good. First thing I noticed: P2 being able to grab a village with a 5 move leader on turn 1.

JW player 3 (was 5) now goes before player 5 (was 3). This results in 3 being able to cut off player 5s water units if it so desires. Unless player 5 is northies and recruits a quick naga in its cloest hex...

Probably makes things more pleasant, yeah- But just FYI, in the older versions neither player had a first turn village, and in this version, both do. So it's not as though this is much of a balance-oriented change.

(I never played P1 on that map incidentally. )
