1v1 Replays! (THE ARCHIVE)
Moderator: Forum Moderators
This is a fun replay featuring me as northeners and solaris as loyalists on weldyn channel.
There is some commentary in the replay, so no more comments here.
In the end the rightful winner actually won, I think

Krimzon vs Velensk
Ok, I actually played a 1v1 I don't normally ever play them but seeing as no one was on the new dev version I thought, why not?
Velensk left close to the end so I continued to hack away at the ai

1v1 Weldyn Channel
This is a replay I'm excited about because I chose random and somehow won, as a race I've never been before (Northerns). I've only been playing about a month now, and won a few MP games here and there.
My luck wasn't so great to begin with, but towards the end of the game his horse was 1 away from leveling with 10hp and my Troll hit him twice 5 each, killing him before he could level.
One thing I learned is that while Northerns don't have magic, up until this game, I underestimated their poison. The fact that it drains is great, but I also love how it prevents healing on villages for a whole turn.
Here are some questions I have about the replay:
1. On the first nightfall, should I have pushed forth like I did? Was it too aggressive or not aggressive enough?
2. Was it smart popping out Trolls to counter his Calvary? Or should I have gotten more archers/ranged?
3. Did I stay in his territory too long after night?
4. Should I have kept attacking units like I did (like the first Mage on the left or the Merman/Calvary on the right), risking my own, or should I have retreated them?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated !

Here's another 1v1 replay where I play Northerners and my opponent, Drakes.
In it, I managed to prevent my opponent's king from getting to his keep, limiting him to only 4 villages. Meanwhile, I keep sending waves of units with my extra income. However, with daylight on his side allowing promotions, he is able to again reach his keep and produce more units.
Who will win it?
P.S. Advice is well appreciated, since I'm still a beginner.
Should I have stayed deep in his territory, or left when day came, despite being able to prevent him from producing more units?

This is my first 1v1 against the more established players. There were many tactical errors, and I'm sure there were some strategic ones as well.
It was an Undead mirror match by random on the Dev version. Lesson: It takes a long time to victory.
Actually this game wasn't finished yet, but I decided to post it here anyway, as finishing it would take a longer time still, as ping timeout problems kept us from saveloading after oos problems. Considering my different timezone, it might be difficult to finish the match as well. I actually want feedback on how I could've improved during that match (hence the post).
Thanks to reloc for putting up with my problems.

Take a breath.
Hereby I'm offering a pretty interesting and typical match for those factions :
Pretty smart humans willing to upgrade and develop themselves are facing
the reckless orc masses trying to conquer every possible village and sacrifice
their lives for the win. Each side could have been the winner but in the end
luck or in one special case the trust in rng's reliability made the decision for
one side.
All in all a match to enjoy as player & observer, thx reloc.
Best regards, nani

I'm posting this replay on request by some observers that pretended this game was interesting.
Basically it's about reloc using my various mistakes, resulting in a quite offensive game.
PS: The game was OOS once, so I hope this replay is working for everyone as it is for me.

yet another replay
Here's an interesting game I had yesterday. Please note that I was lucky (see the EV values) and that my opponent was tricked twice by the new UI (misplaced units). I hate playing undeads...
I have a few questions:
Turn1: How do you find my initial recruits? I don't know the map so I went with this one. But I always end up feeling my first moves are far from being optimal.
Turn3: Should I have tried to ZoC his gryphon?
It seemed to me that my bat wouldn't have lived long if I tried that...
Turn4: How should I have organized my attack? Seems like I just gave him a bat for free. I didn't see he'd be able to backstab me, however.
What about the ghost recruit(s)? Were they good (considering a dwarf opponent)?
Turn7: Here's when everything's decided. His zerk misses my ghoul (he had 97% CTK or so) and he misplaced his thief so my skeleton could reach his zerk in the east.
Turn8: He should have tried to kill my leader with Kuu, right? 36% CTK which is surely better than his chances to win the game at that point. Could I have prevented it?
What about the rest of the game? Were my recruits (ghosts+bats for steal, skeletons against zerks) appropritate? Could he have countered it? How?

Yay, my first real win on MP 1v1!
This was an ok game, although I misplaced a unit(s) (important for initial village grabbing). In the end I won as you shouldn't try to enter enemy territory too deep against the swift and agile drakes, especially with the leader. I'd like some advice on how I could've done better, and I'll post the thread on this in the Strategies section.
This is a Loy vs Drake game, on 1.3.12. Thanks wyvern for the game.

Take a breath.
Yay!
I won with loyalists...
I made an observation about my play during this game that I would like some comments on.
Loyalists treat terrain almost as drakes (that is it's more important to deny your enemy good terrain than to get decent terrain yourself).
Thoughts?
/tsr
ps. I replaced WP with the standard AI after my leader survived the second attack, just because I enjoy eradicating the AI

A few matches that might be good for educational and entertainment purposes.
A Rebel/Drake and a Loy/Drake; both pretty interesting.
(I observed these- didn't play in either of them.)
