A balanced enviornment regardeless of faction balance.

Post by BasiC »

Here is my Viewpoint.
For the ladder to be accurate and for games to be fair for all competitive players Faction balance and unit balance and even map balance does not matter.
All we need to do is to make all ladder games be played with random faction and with a random map, pulled out of a pool of maps for ladder games.

This way it does not matter if a certain faction is OP at a certain time, lets face it there is no such thing as perfect balance, because everyone will have roughly the same % of games played on x map with y faction.
Anything else aside from this way of going about ladder games calls for abuse of newer players, faction selection wars before the game and unfairness.

You will find a only a few that do not do this already... And anyway, there will still be some bad combinations...

Have you ever actually played MP Wesnoth? You have to pick your faction when joining the game, after which you cannot change it without quitting and rejoining, exactly to prevent that sort of thing.

Also, why did you start a new thread for this?
