Indeed, it is.
To be more precise, I have disabled the hack that generated all the different starting scenarios.

The reason was the huge amount of them, 5 Chapters * 3 difficulty levels = 15 entries.
If a non hackish support for MP campaigns with difficult levels still makes it into 1.10 I could
make 3 or 4 of the Chapters available in 1.10 MP.

Another option would be to bring only one of the three levels back.
Still both game setup screens are not really up to cooperative multiplayer campaigns yet.
A stable version should not feature content that is obviously unfinished.

So there is still a slight chance, just wanted to be sure to bring everything in a releasable state for the case I don't have time during the hot phase.

1. No difficulty levels without very ugly hack.
2. Not enough information displayed about the campaign. In fact the mp map screen does only support the start of single maps/scenarios, not campaigns.
3. The era option is misplaced and may even break the mp campaign.
4. The game setup screens offers options which break the scenario or the whole campaign.
* Faction choise
* Leader selection
* Team selection
* Gold, fog, shroud whatever

All solid points. The only thing I can say is about #1. I don't think it needs multiple difficulty levels.

Regarding #4 you can block pretty much any of these settings on "Use Map Settings". Of course not using map settings breaks pretty much every MP campaign anyway.

I really wish there was a way to block changing the Era and enforce "Use Map Settings" always, though.

It depends on getting acceptable gui support for starting multiplayer campaigns.
Hopefully this will be the case for the next stable version 1.12.

A google summer of code project enhanced the multiplayer campaign support (thunderstruck) while another unpaid project (lipcab) overhauled the UI.

Thus Wesnoth 1.12 will be ready to ship with LoW enabled.
The current development version already contains the new features and the re-enabled LoW mp campaign.

I like to advertise the ancient (1.4) "Elf War" campaign.
It is the original dual single/multiplayer campaign.
Available for 1.10.

From this one I learned that a campaign can be both.

I've posted about an issue with 04 The Elvish Treasury:

Basically, leaders are created in the [side] tags and then also recalled in the start event, leading to duplicates. Also, side=4 is specified for Landar's pals rather than side=2.

It seems that the version of the campaign in the master branch is different from the 1.12 branch on github. The master version does not/would not have these issues, based on my testing in version 1.12.1 of the game.

Hi there, I'm playing this MP campaign with a friend and we're wondering if it is possible to play the last two maps together and not against. We have tried the usual console commands for switching sides but this doesn't seem to work. Thanks for your help!

well, not really, in fact the last few scenarios are really incomplete and probably not tested at all, so it's probably best to only play them in sp. If you like coop mp campaigns there are also other mp coop campaign that on the addon server you could try.
Scenario with Robots SP scenario (1.11/1.12), allows you to build your units with components, PYR No preperation turn 1.12 mp-mod that allows you to select your units immideately after the game begins.
