Re: Thoughts on orcish assassin's marksman?
Given that wintermutes approach failed to prevent caphriel's pointlesss post, I think I'll stick with my approach, thank you.
I suspect having one foot in the past is the best way to understand the present.

9 damage at least. You don't get -8hp from the poison if you are being cured.Caphriel wrote: It does at least 17 'damage' almost every time it attacks, now. At least one from the hit, 8 from poison at the beginning of the next turn, and 8 HP not healed at the beginning of the turn after, assuming the target made it to a village. While assassins alone won't win a game, I believe they're the most reliable unit in the game at costing the enemy HP.

I like that point, giving the final blow (to get a village) might be significant generally.Caphriel wrote:One I haven't seen mentioned, which is why I'm posting, is that assassin's now do 5-3 with a 60% cth against fencers, footpads, and thieves. In addition to poisoning them, the damage is not insignificant. ... the assassins are now really good at finishing off wounded units
Disagree there, see mentioned point above.Noy wrote:... caphriel's pointlesss post ...
Re: Thoughts on orcish assassin's marksman?
ChosenOne, thanks, I forgot about that in my post-editing. Yeah, if the unit is adjacent to a healer when it gets poisoned, it doesn't lose HP, it only loses the potential healing. That was part of the almost every attack, but I went back to change something, and forgot to elucidate . I was counting lost healing in HP lost to poison, because if a player is cycling their units on villages to cure them of poison, they're not getting any HP back from the healing. The rebels and drakes are the only races with tier one healing, and I've been seeing them use it a bit more against the Northerners now.
Re: Thoughts on orcish assassin's marksman?
I am strongly in favor of marksman on the Assasin's poison. Most skilled players have said that they consider the Northeners the weakest faction, and the Knalgans are usually considered the strongest. Thus, this change helps correct the balance of power.

That's a pretty good custom graphic.

There's no mod like turuk. There's no mod like turuk. There's no mod like turuk.

Darn it's still here. Seriously sneasel why did you go and dig up this thread only to claim that the game is anything but well balanced?
The way I see it each faction has their secrets. You must have unique strategies for each. It's not that any one faction is weaker than another, it's that their units are so different. These "skilled players" are probably skilled in one faction and then switch to another (northerners?) and try to play it in the same way.

Loyalists will adapt to anything.
Rebels can't be hit by anything.
Knalgans will defeat anything.
Northerners will vastly outnumber anything.
Undead will annoy anything.
Drakes will outflank anything.
Yep, they're all balanced, 1 bonus each

Yeah, I hate it when I'm at my desk trying to do work, and ghouls keep trying to poison me.Gambit wrote:Ell. Oh. freaking Ell.Araja wrote:Loyalists will adapt to anything.

Re: Thoughts on orcish assassin's marksman?
Well they do!
Anything you try to do they will have this nasty counter that makes you fall back and change your strategy again. For me beating undead is always more about beating the player than it is the faction.
And as I kinda said before. I'm sure they're balanced. I personally just can't figure it out.
Anywway we've gone from a several month bump to an off topic.

Yes, but off-topic always has the best stuff.
