I've been searching and reading for fifteen minutes and I don't know what hodor is. It's either some kind of self-inflicted handicap to make a game interesting or it's that Doc Paterson person's real name and she sells real estate in Florida. I'ma go back to playing with nOObs on the main server, thanks.

It's sort of a self-inflicted handicap, but it's not much of a handicap. HODOR tactics is recruiting only the outlaw units of the Knalgan faction (footpads, thieves, and poachers) and usually involves a lot of harassment and village stealing.

Also, HODOR.

There is a definition of Hodor games in the first post of the thread, but no word clarification.

Yeah I guess I got the gameplay aspect from the first post but I didn't get the uh... culture surrounding it. I read the link so I guess I'm little less in the dark now. I tried watching some hodor replays too but they didn't work too well on my version of Wesnoth.

I think some Russian kid sort of used the HODOR strategy on Saturday but I don't think he meant to. He did have a few gryphons and dwarves but he was overwhelmingly footpads and he only leveled up about a hundred of them. It was a 12 hour game on Wilderlands and he was northwest. He sort of won in the north by spamming footpads everywhere, it was so annoying. I ended up poisoning everything I saw and zapping them with level 2 acolytes and using zombies. Kid would not give up. In the end he holed up in the north-east base and even though I had about 90 units it took me about 5 turns to bash my way in and kill him. That was the best Saturday of my life. I never played a huge game like that where random strangers met on server and nobody quit. We all fought to the bitter end.
EDIT:
Oh hi, pauxlo. Yeah the word clarification, that's what bugged me.

HODOR!

Opponent dropped out on turn 10, finished the AI in the 4 remaining turns. Hodor vs. Knalgans on Fallenstar Lake. Enjoy.

HODOR!

Strict HODORism match here.

Hodor VS Drakes on Caves of the Basilisk

The Drake player made some cruicial strategic mistakes, and I made him pay dearly for each and every one. The player dropped out at turn 10, I finished the remainder of the fight against the AI.

I am blown away by the fact that this thread is the first result returned by a google image search for "hodor."

Now you can put a face to the name.

HBO has picked up the Game of Thrones series, from which Hodor originates. They are doing casting selects and have chosen a Hodor. Apparently, he's already memorized all his lines.

Young David Hodorism on Weldyn.
Opponent too strong for the pacifistic guys, so they started throwing stones.

unfortunately i have to say that this guy was a real noob and not even the moves he did were good against hodor strategy. nothing unexpected happened (except he kept on doing strange stuff nobody could understand) this was kind of a waste of time for me.

Looking at it like this almost all of the B.U.R.S. and Hodor matches are a waste of time.
Those are strategies that don't work versus good players anyways. That commentary was totally unsuitable.
The reason for hodoring less skilled players is not having a high-class match, which shouldn't be possible anyways
without big help of rng, no, it is fascinating them by the strategy of Hodor, making them feel  , which actually
succeeded if you read his comments. Now if you got the intention, rethink your words.

Simply incorrect. HODOR is more than capable of defeating good opponents. HODOR himself when he was still playing was on the top of the ladder list. It is simply more difficult to use. Now BURS can be more risky, but by no means are all the combinations less than capable than the factions themselves!

What.

I was searching for quite a while for an image but couldn't really find anything that came close to paying homage to the wonderful, wonderful match i'm about to present you.

Young David Hodorism, Elves, Freelands, hilarity ensues.

Levente96 wanted to try his skills vs the Hodor of NothingLeftToLose, so he knew what he was up against. Nevertheless it was that very dynamic match which is what we love about Hodor. Although the Knalgans switched to non-Hodor tactics in the end, the outcome of the match was open until the very last turn. I won't tell you who won in the end, only that there was an absurd kill/loss ratio, elven heroes (yes, multiple) fighting with lvl 3 leadership  , a sniper killing Knalgans left and right and the thief leader sneaking into the enemy keep.
Seriously, watch the match, it's funny as hell.

I have no pretention to match the quality of the last post - this one was simply hilarious. The game I post tonight wasn't even pure HODOR: I recruited an ulf and switched to knalgans for the end game. My idea was to stick to young david's hodorism. I picked my faction and leader and my opponent went random, but got knalgans and played HODOR at the beginning. My hope is to get comments of better players that could point out my mistakes and maybe suggest a way to win the game without going knalgans.
