Rules for music?

Post by turin »

Are there any rules of submitting music? I know i usually do graphics, but i have some music that my brother has been working on and is now complete. Also, do i have to put it on my own webspace, or can i put it here?
{i tried posting it here, but it was too large a file. it it .ogg, 6mb)

- has to be licensed under the GPL, same as all other content
- has to be in .ogg format
- people must like it, and it must be suitable for the game
- preferably, not too large.

I suggest putting it on your own web space if it's a large file.

It will be licensed under the GPL :)

It is in .ogg format :)

I hope people will like it :)

It is too large :(

I don't have webspace to put it on as of today :( . Maybe i will find some. Until then, this music will probably have to wait.

How large is the file? I might be able to host it for you if you can find a way to transfer it to me.

I guess, reducing sample rate, or resampling with simpler instruments could greatly reduce the size. Or cutting parts from it ;)

It gives a 403/Forbidden error. You have to change permissions on the file to make it publically accessible...

Cool! :D

Sounds ok, but I had to put my speakers quite loud to hear it properly. I guess turning the volume up a bit wouldn't hurt...

Anyway, good work! :D

Errrr... How can i say. From my point of view it doesn't work. Well, its "ok" but there is no construction in the music. It doesn't go anywhere. The idea is interesting but its kind of confusing. I don't know how to really explain, there isn't much to say. All depends what the creators of Wesnoth want they're game to be. You have to sometimes be harder on some propositions & be more critic. Maybe I am too much! But, if it where for me i would say no. But as i said, the idea is interesting. Perhaps some development? Its good for people to be free to do whatever they want. Be maybe its better to concentrate on one thing and make it good. But wait until more feedback. Cheers,

Aleksi.

P.S. You can always pm me for advice or anything.

well, as i said, it is not mine, it is my friend's. i just thought you might want to listen to it, it might give you an idea. :D i don't really know much about music, so i thought i'd allow someone who did to critique it.
