Aleksi's Music

Post by Aleksi »

Hi all! I hope you don't mind that i name a folder like this but since we are several musicians here i think its better to keep track of who's doing what and not open millions of new topics. So i have just put an update of one of the musics i've made. Its pretty much finished. I will just change most of the sounds when i get my new soft.
its called "in game 1".

Sounds great to me! :)

Now we just have to work out which scenarios it's appropriate to add it to :)

Aleksi,

Let me know when you feel the music is ready to put in the game, and I will put it in.

Also, would it be possible to compress it any more than it is? (I'm not sure). 3+ megs for a track is quite alot!

Well, the soft that i got that converts in ogg vorbis doesn't propose any setting. Its quite basic. I'll search for more and compress that stuff! ;)
As for the musics. You can already put them in the game. I actually plan to change them a bit after the holidays. But if its ok for you to change them will there in the game then there is no problem. :)
I'll leave tomorrow so i'll be offline for about a week. Any case, Merry Xmas to all and Happy New Year! :D Cheers,

Replays (for 0.6.1):

http://www.sgic.fi/crossbow/wesnoth/replays/0.6.1/

Files are gzipped, if you are using u$win at least 7-Zip [1] can decompress them.

I'll let you know when there are more replays available.

Ok, i'm back on the road! Here a little preview of a music i made quite fast here. Its a bit messy but you'll get the idea. I have another coming on the way but i really like it so i want it to be made well. Sol you'll have t wait for that. So, i'll be waiting for critics and suggestions :)

File is called "Sad Campaign" and the pass for the zip file is "wesnoth"

Cool, this music sounds great! :) I can't believe you did that 'quickly'!

Some other tracks we need:

- one or two that are used when facing the Orcish Hordes
- one or two that are used when facing the evil and sinister Undead, and especially when surrounded by many undead
- one for when they venture into the unknown underground, where everything is dark
- one for when they reach the peaceful home of the North Elves.

It'd also be good if we could make your tracks smaller, since they're rather large! If we can't make them smaller, we'll probably package just a few with the game, and make the rest of the music an additional optional download.

Great! Some directions! Thats going to be easier for me to compose when there is an indication of what is needed. Just a question; are these musics you need "in game"? Do they appear suddenly when you meet this particular situation?

Ok, i understand and i'll work on simpler things (and shorter :)). I'm also going to look at the replays someone gave me. I'll make tracks that correspond more to a situation, campaign...

Well, the underground one for instance would be for the entire scenario.

We also want some orcish and undead ones though, which are just for a short time - while the orcs/undeads are moving.

I.e. while it's the player's turn, there is "good/happy" music, while when it switches to the AI/bad guy's turn, there is "evil/sinister" music.

The 'victory' and 'defeat' music would also be great :)

Ok, here's some quick examples is just made.
-One for battles VS Orcs,
-One for Home of the Elfs.

I'll do another one for the orcs with faster percussions.
The one for the Elfs is a little bit caricatural and i made it roughly. it can sound strange but i'll concentrate more on that one. Plus the harp is pretty much out of tune but its just to give an idea. :D

Well, see you!

*Update*

Here are two new musics i did this morning:

-"Dark Underground" when venturing underground.
-"VS EVIL", well you got that! :p
Both are unfinished. its just an overview. But the'll stay short and loop.

When playing them activate "loop" in your ogg player because these basicaly loop over and over...
