Composer introduction...
Hi folks...
My name is Andy Kotz and I compose music for film, tv, advertising and am now trying the video game world. My goals are the advertising and video game industries.
My internet research has led me to "Battle For Wesnoth" because it is one of the highest rated, open-source games. I've also been writing to fulfill a CD's worth of medieval style production music.
The Soundcloud link below (in my signature) will lead you to some of my production music. I've recently taken down around 70 pieces of music since they have been sold off (and I need room for more new stuff), so my music sampling is now around 30 pieces but that number will increase rather quickly... so check back often. It will however, give you a sense of my composing, production skills and the "broadcast quality" of the mastered audio. All done "in-house" by yours truly.
Anyhow... I look forward to hearing from some of you soon and in the meantime will continue writing music in this style (since I have to anyway!). -- Andy

Re: Composer introduction...
Hi Andy,
welcome to the forums. I'm not a composer even so I love music. One thing you have to know, is that music contributed for battle for wesnoth has to be provided under a gpl licence. This is a restriction you should know about. Be sure you want to contribute the music under that licence. I'm quite sure other composers can tell you more and you should definetly listen to all soundtracks prodived in the main game as well as the addon UMC Music (just select addons in the main menu and look for "ressources").
There also a variety of other music collections such as UMC Music Book 1-10, but I think you will figure that out yourself.
So far

Thank you Heindal but I already reviewed all of the guidelines and was willing to contribute but this seems to be a dead place to be at...

Re: Composer introduction...
First, I'm grateful that you are wanting to contribute to Battle for Wesnoth and have agreed to license works under the GPL.
Second, while I'm not one of the "Lords of Music," I think it would be accurate to say that we're not actively looking for new music contributors. If something awesome just happens to land on our doorstep then so be it. But there are probably a lot of other worthy games in greater need of music.

Re: Composer introduction...
Yes, it's unfortunately rather dead here in the music forum. All the composers we've had seem absent now, with apparently only West popping in very occasionally.
As Sapient said, we have our music pretty well covered already. That's not to say new contributors aren't welcome, just that it's harder to point out any specific pieces of music that we're currently lacking. However, firstly, I'm not sure which one you're offering to do; writing new songs specifically for Wesnoth, or donating existing pieces from your library?
