Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra -- CC-licensed sample library

Postby West » January 27th, 2011, 10:22 pm

Those who have been members of this forum for a while might recall that a few years ago I was working on a small orchestral sample library in soundfont format called Sonatina Symphonic Orchestra. I was never really happy with the way it was turning out, and the final blow was learning that a lot of the soundfonts it was based on were ripped from a commercial source.

However, SSO has been reborn.

I hope someone here will find it useful.

I gave a look and it seems that some instruments have strange transients in some notes. Is it a know issue?

Hello West,
Thank you for your work on SSO. I think http://sso.mattiaswestlund.com/ appears to be down at the moment. Anyone following it who can't get to the website may want to know when you bring it back online.
Cheers,

Yup, it's down for the time being but should be back up later today or sometime tomorrow. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Due to a mishap with the domain registration (I missed that it was time to renew it, now it has expired and can't be registered again for up to 90 days) the SSO site can now be found at sso.mattiaswestlund.net. So please update your bookmarks and thanks for your patience.

Hello,
so good to be back after much time! I recently used the Sonatina library for the recent Global Game Jam, so I thought to thank Mattias publicly here! Great library, I've ever had it on my radar but never actually used it, and I must say I've been impressed by the quality! I will post the musics I made ASAP.

Do you have any idea why SFZ players consume so much memory to the point they are unplayable? I'm using my soundcard's native Creative Asio and still it is unplayable. :(

I use Fl Studio to record.

I'm not entirely sure I see the connection between memory use and asio drivers. Exactly which SFZ players are we talking about here?

Sfz and sForzando. Those are the ones that produce memory overdrive when more than 1 plugin (instance of them) is running.
