music submission, a work in progress...
Hi there,
Here is a piece I have been working on. I was wanting to write something a little more frantically battle-y than my previous piece so here is what I came up with! It starts loud... Critiques and feedback much appreciated. Thanks!!

I've listened to your piece and I think it's pretty good!
There are a few things I've noticed though: several times over we are expecting the music to rise in volume, to a sort of climax, and instead we're left standing there while you go on to another part played by a different instrument.
In certain places it seems you could be bolder to great effect by adding other instruments into the melee, I'm thinking for example when you have one woodwind with percussion playing, you could include other winds to support it...
The feeling of urgency and speed of the piece is undeniable though; I think you've nailed it quite nicely there.

I think I know what you mean, there are parts where the dynamic direction is not particularly clear. Any spots that stand out for you? I'm thinking you mean the transition around :53 and the section from 1:32 to 2:15. I want there to be a sense of small "waves" of climaxes, but I need to work on these so they have a clearer overall direction.Spi wrote:There are a few things I've noticed though: several times over we are expecting the music to rise in volume, to a sort of climax, and instead we're left standing there while you go on to another part played by a different instrument.
Yes I will try that, it's a little more empty feeling than I realized, something I tend to do. I also am planning to change one of the samples in that section as it is now sounding buzzy and really annoying to me hehe. I want the melody to be really clear there so I'll need to work on that.Spi wrote:In certain places it seems you could be bolder to great effect by adding other instruments into the melee, I'm thinking for example when you have one woodwind with percussion playing, you could include other winds to support it...
Thanks a lot for your suggestions!!
