Alright guys, this one is pretty much finished. I sent it to Dragonchampion and this will be the Terradorians theme song.

It's very nice, and it fits the midieval fantasy genre of Wesnoth, but I can't really say it makes me think of sci-fi in any way. :hmm: I think it's because sci-fi music (orchestral, i.e. Star Wars & Star Trek) tend to rely heavily on brass and quick snare drums rather than strings and heavier, slower drums, and have more of a military sort of theme in them.

Not bad at all in general, I think it lacks dynamics. There is no build-up, no climax. Especially in the first part, which is very repetitive, you could start out much softer and build up to great heights. You could possibly achieve this partly with "nuances", but also adding instruments. You could add trumpets or stuff to the various lines, give power to the composition! And it would allow you to generate a very interesting contrast around 0:50, diving from great intensity, to something very light, but still tense. And it could grow back quickly or something for the ending, which kinda is a let down, imo.

Also, I -think- your main theme for the first part would be the horns, but they seldom come out on top, the violins catch most of my attention at the point. I don't know if you should review the range in which they play, or your which instruments play what part... I'm not sure, but the melody ain't exactly at the fore (assuming its the melody).

That was partly intentional, to be honest.

Well, I'm not 100% certain that that's the ending, I may go back sometime and add some more to it. At the moment, however, I'm a bit tired of this piece. I may go back, and edit it later though.

I was wondering wether anyone thought that. I also thought the violins were way to loud and sorta drown out the horn. I'll have to fiddle with that...

Here's one of my more recently completed songs. I was aiming for a different mood from most of my other pieces so far. Hope it worked. :)

I think there are some "harmony gaps" in you piece, actually for myself I don't have problems to listen to those harmony gaps. I'would put some variations the the melody as well but anyway the song is good!

Well, It's not exactly my most finished piece to date. I composed this in one afternoon just for the fun of it.

Thanks for the reply. :D

Still working on the War of Terrador. This is part of the Zedarian theme. I'm still trying to touch a few problems up before going on and completing it.

It's quite good, but I feel like it's depicting a battlefield after a battle rather than during it. The progression is rather slow and steady and melodic, whereas I would think that a piece intended to play during a battle would be faster paced and more dissonant, especially given the race you're attempting to depict in a musical format.

Just two cents from the musical peanut gallery.

This song is something I started a couple months back. It was having timing issues, so I went back and fixed most of them. There are still some places that have some arguable timing problems but, see what you guys think. :hmm:

Here's a fairly short piece I'm working on. I'm not sure how long I will eventually make this song, but it still isn't finished. I'm not too pleased with the volume of some parts and am still mixing parts of it.

This is a project under construction. I'm waiting for Stormdrum Pro 2 to finish this, and unfortunately, I'll have to wait a few days...
