Hey Dragonchampion:

I don't know why I didn't think of this before. There is a website called 8bitcollective that is devoted to a musical instrumentation called chiptune. They use the sound generator ICs (integrated circuits, or chips) found inside older gaming consoles and handhelds like the NES, Commodore 64, GameBoy, etc., to create music. They have thousands of submissions released under a Creative Commons BY-NC-SA License, and while not all of them are suitable for a sci-fi game, there are quite a few that should be appropriate. You will have to ask the creator of any tunes you like to also release the song under Wesnoth's GNU General Public Licence in order for it to be downloadable from the Wesnoth add-on server.

One potential song.

EDIT: potential song appears to have been removed.
