The Deep Path

Post by gmlion »

Hi, I have a new music ready for crossfire :)

The deep path, here in streaming:
http://www.isound.com/mp3player/play.ph ... &id=547451

I made it for underground levels; I personally like the current underground, but since there are many levels underground, more than a single music should works better.

Sounds good. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but it's also really quiet in terms of volume. When I listen (using desktop speakers) to your other pieces on the kind of volume I usually use, I can barely hear what goes on during the quieter sections of this track. I have to turn up the volume to a level on which the other pieces would almost start disturbing the neighbours.

I find it a bit hard to give more elaborate comments than that on pieces that are as slow and somber as this. :hmm: Doesn't mean it isn't a good piece though, on the contrary I think it does its job as calm underground music well.

The low volume was an issue.
The new version in the first post has an appropriate volume.
And of course thanks for commenting. As you perhaps have seen, I'm following your advices for music contribution.

I think this works well as a 'mood piece'. I almost couldn't detect a melody in there, but the orchestration is nice and brooding and I agree it would work well for the underground.
There is way too much mud on the harp but the amount of reverb works well in portraying a cavernous atmosphere.

Before posting an ogg I will correct the reverb for sure, since it is something I was also thinking.
Thanks for the comment ;)

I like this piece too, but as has been hinted, the reverb is a mess. Okay, it's "underground music", but that doesn't mean it has to sound like the orchestra is playing at the bottom of a mine shaft. ;)

Spend some more time on the reverb (both the verb itself, and the various send levels) and this will be great.

And oh, I love the title! "The Deep Path"... sounds very Tolkien, for some reason. Tasteful.

Thanks West, thanks Rain.
The Deep Path, ogg version:

This version is different, I have corrected the reverb levels and other things. You can listen the new version in streaming from the link in the first post also.

Now I will move to something different, I have to do some jingles for a radio station and the soundtrack for a short film, but will be back to Wesnoth music soon! :p
If you hear issues in this new version I will anyway correct theme asap.

Yeah, it's fine. Since no one else seems to be making a move, I'll go ahead and add this in myself. Should make it just in time for the 1.5.5 release. ;)
