2 questions regarding current soundtrack and new ones...
Hi
I have recently reached wesnoth game when I was looking for some games to contrubute regarding the music.
As i read in "Guidelines for Music Contribuition":
"It should be orchestral music in a classical style of some type. No techno beats and electronics... "
so what's up with wesnoth-6.ogg??
-----------------------------------------------------
As I could hear, contribuitions by Aleksi are the only ones that really simulates orchestral sounds, the other ones are really poor. So i was thinking if this "old vintage" sounds were used intentionally (no problem with them) or for other reasons. If so, this tought left me a doubt: would i compose/record a real sounding orchestra for this game? (or very good simulated one as for advertising, films, animations, etc)
because maybe there was an intentional 'vintage sounding' feel for the game play by the project administrators... make that a little bit more clear for me plz =)
see, i don't mean to be rude, I just wanna understand the exact focus of the game music because hope to contribute to it soon too!
c ya

Re: 2 questions regarding current soundtrack and new ones...
wesnoth-6.ogg doesn't actually even exist in newer development versions. There are still several of these "old-style" tracks left in Wesnoth simply because the new orchestral pieces are taking a lot of time to finish - the guidelines are a guide to what the new music, which will replace the old techno beats and electronics, should be like. But since there aren't that many of the new tracks finished yet, some of the old music is used as well, since it's better than nothing, but all new music that's made should be in the new orchestral style.gabriel_dib wrote:Hi

Also, if you are using 1.0.x, you probably do not have any of TimothyP's contributions. You can listen to them here:http://www.timothypinkham.com/wesnoth/. Those and Aleksi's pieces are the direction we are going in.

They aren't in 1.0.2. They're in the development branch, the latest version of which you can find on the front page.gabriel_dib wrote:I dowloaded it these days
in a log I found in wesnoth folder it says
"Battle for Wesnoth v1.0.2
Started on Wed Jun 14 05:48:25 2006"
Timothy has good compositions but it's not included in my package =/
why? should I manually include it?
Hope springs eternal.
