Being able to chat in a game room even without proper era

Post by Molean » April 5th, 2012, 4:42 pm

Some way to be able to enter or at least chat with people in a game room without the right era for that game, that way you can ask about the game and decide if you want to bother with installing and playing it before hand.

*edited in*

Also the ability to check a maps descriptive screen without starting it.

Without the era, you wouldn't have the right files to display any of the game.

You don't need the era to chat in the room, but the game blocks you anyway.

Use /m name if you dont want to download that era.

Most likely is that to reduce number of players kicked from game because of missing files

It looks rather strange for a User if that doesn't work due to a missing Era as that Era doesn't get used for the chat, does it?

/m name can be a downright pain to use, and doesn't allow one to talk to everyone within a game room.

Sorry, please explain that again, I didn't understand it.

Yeah I know, but maybe it can alert the game room that the joiner does not have the right era when they enter. Anyway would point out that the block of entering a game room you don't have the right files to join is not complete, there are a number of examples where you can join the game room but will be kicked from the game itself for not having the right era.

It is still very annoying you cannot enter a game room without the era. Of course, the greater problem here is the inability to have the game download the necessary era files automatically. That would be the ultimate solution to this issue.

Two problems with that, 1. It would probably be too difficult to program cleanly. 2, it would be a hassle for players who just wanted to check out a game and suddenly find themselves downloading and installing a era they didn't necessarily want.

Here is my solution to that end of things - Load add-ons to install latter, from game screen.
