Install without reboot.
I don't know if this is the right forum for this. Please move it to tech support or whatever if that's more appropriate.
Since I got my computer about 2 years ago (running Windows Vista) I cannot recall ever having to reboot my computer to install software (other than Operating System updates). Wesnoth required me to.
Why is this? Is it actually required, or is it a holdover of using an old installer program or something?
If it's possible to remove this requirement, can it be, please?

All things are true. Especially false things.
Re: Install without reboot.
It is required due to our fonts. We don't know why, since this shouldn't happen as they are not installed system-wide.

I can't reproduce the font issue myself, so feel free to decline the reboot. Perhaps you won't get broken fonts too.

I've declined reboot after updating and everything's gonna be OK
Re: Install without reboot.
Anyone know why it doesn't ask for this on Linux?
Re: Install without reboot.
Because Linux is better
No, seriously, because Linux is UNIX-based. On Linux, you don't have to restart the whole computer to load fonts. Windows used to require restarts every few actions (I don't know whether this is improved, because I didn't used Windows for years). In contrast, under Linux you only have to reload the specific module - and that's done mostly automatically.

Because there's no such bug in our dependencies on Linux. Of course we don't know why.Kranix wrote:Anyone know why it doesn't ask for this on Linux?
