[interface] Cancelling order of unit if ennemi appears
Hi everybody,
The cause of my suggestion comes from the fact that, movement orders you give to units are carried out even if the unit is attacked/intercepted during the turn, resulting of silly and uncontrolable behavior like going around the ennemi zoc, ending in a low defence terrain or not finishing an ennemi unit (or any other actions that will make you lose a turn or worse, a unit).
So could it be possible to automatically cancel orders of a unit (or give a warning and press t to continue) if, an ennemi unit come into it's zoc or an ennemi unit appears in it's field of vision.
Hope i'm making myself clear enough
Cheers

Re: Cancelling order of unit if ennemi appears
Yeah, I've always been a little less than satisfied with this aspect of the game, but I can't remember this ever being discussed on here.
I guess what you're suggesting, a "An enemy unit has moved into this unit's path. Press T if you would like it to continue" message sounds like a reasonable solution to me.

Re: Cancelling order of unit if ennemi appears
Why not just break the goto immediately if an enemy is in the way and let the player decide what to do?

I do not agree with this change. You can avoid messy situations if you know how to move your units(ex. moving step by step).

But sometimes moving your units one hex at a time can get really tedious. Especially with a large army with a lot of ground to cover.
I like this idea. It is similar to what happens when you discover friendly or enemy units. The game notifies and asks you to press a key to continue.

I think a t like message would effectively be the best solution, one when an allied or enemy unit come into your line of sight when it's not your turn, and one if a enemy unit come into contact with your unit. It would save from having to reload the game using the "Cancel Orders" option.

Not that it matters, but I'm in favor of this.

I like this idea, with or without the 'press t' part.

This is an old thread, but I like the idea too.

Forum threads tend to get forgotten. If an idea is good (and it would appear that this thread is full of nothing but agreement) you should file a real feature request at https://gna.org/bugs/index.php?group=wesnoth
