Waiting for sub, option

Post by Molean »

Sometimes someone drops, but players don't want to save, and reload from the game waiting for a sub (or original player to come back) What if there was a option to put in a command that would cause the game to show as waiting for sub. It could further indicate whether the side needing to be subbed, is strong, weak or average. That way we don't have to rely on observers being on that just happen to be interested in subbing.

Games waiting to be subbed, could be right under open games, for when we have a lobby able to sort games accordingly.

Interesting idea - I don't believe anyone's suggested it before. The "side strength indicator" sounds like it would be a little too complicated to implement (after all, strength isn't just a matter of units/hp on the field, but unit types v. enemy unit types, position on the field, etc). But the overall idea of a game showing up in the list as "not full anymore / in need of a substitute" has promise.

Anyone have any thoughts on pros, cons, implementation difficulties?

It could also be for reloads where you need a sub. People see a reload and assume that its full and just waiting for players. Yes you could put it in the title of the reload, but you might learn after you made the room that everyones not going to show, or just forget.

Regarding the strength, the host would just put that indicator, or choose to leave it out. The game doesn't need to figure out the sub positions strength, so not so complicated.
