zoom-out view

Post by borsook »

Current minimap mode shows only terrain and units, without the position of villages, which can be very important to your battle plan. At the same time the main view is too close-up (esp. for people running @ 1024x768) to grasp a good overview of the battlefield. Adding more info to the minimap would require complete redesign of it, as it is it would become very quickly too cluttered. So maybe it would be possible to include a 50% zoom-out mode for the main view? It would be great for planning your moves, or even moving some long range units (e.g. bats).

Wow, this is great and I feel silly now... but, maybe it would be good to have an option to do it with the mouse? I for one never knew about it, and it is nowhere in the GUI. Maybe it should be located under actions or preferences?

It's in Preferences under General/Hotkeys.

I rather meant an ability of doing it with a mouse not just find the info... BTW it would be great if hotkey menu accepted mouse buttons/movement. This way one could put zoom on the mouse wheel. Current mousewheel behaviour (scrolling) is great when you have two-wheeled mouse but pretty useless with one wheel.
