Tweak victory/defeat conditions display format?

Tweak victory/defeat conditions display format?

Currently the victory defeat conditions say (for example):

Code: Select all

VICTORY:
  Defeat one enemy leader and resist the other until time expires
  Defeat both enemy leaders (Bonus)
DEFEAT:
  Death of Konrad
  Turns run out
Might this be better displayed as:

Code: Select all

VICTORY:
  Defeat one enemy leader and resist the other until time expires
BONUS:
  Defeat both enemy leaders before time expires
DEFEAT:
  Death of Konrad
  Turns run out
?

Agree, it makes more sense to have "Victory" only stand for the conditions that are required to win.

Rather than Bonus, why not put Optional since they are optional recommendations.

maybe you could give the bonus a bonus.

Yep, good idea. I've gotten confused before as to what I have to do and what is optional.

Honestly, I don't get that confused. Maybe that's just me. And I don't know that it's the best idea to say straight out what the bonus for a bonus objective is...because sometimes, it can't be stated (Bay of Pearls), or just should remain a surprise.

It's just a reorganisation of the currently displayed information. Any 'surprise' objectives that aren't currently displayed still won't be.

The current way isn't necessarily hugely confusing, this is just a bit neater and more accessible, IMO.

At the very least, it would make sense to overhaul the objectives WML into something more versatile than plain "Victory" and "Defeat" and then let campaign designers work with that. OK, there are ways to get round it, but it's messy.

There are about 3-4 scenarios in a row in TroW that could benefit from this suggestion - the ones where you're fleeing the island and have "heroic" objectives to kill everyone for a bonus.

For this, I usually put a line of white text at the bottom describing the bonus, as standard colour tags work in the victory conditions dialog. :)
