I suggest a loading screen for replays. perhaps parsing some quick basic info and displaying it while it loads the replay.
Such as races game length in turns and so fourth.
Another spur of the moment suggestion from me, didn't look into if its been suggest before I apologize if it is, ive just watched a bunch of reps back to back and just struck me as something that was missing.

I am probably going to be smacked upside the head for this, but, why is the battlefield full of mobile, viscous-looking tubers?

That looks pretty neat too, but if its random it will probably need several, and that wold boat the size of the package by a bit.Syntax_Error wrote:*smacks scienceguy8 upside the head*
I was thinking during replays, maybe generate a picture of the map in mini, or show recruits, or something interesting. Instead of the wait symbol which can just as well mean the computer is frozen.

It wouldn't necessarily need to be a random screenshot image, though. The image could easily be generated on-the-fly as in-game images are. Maybe each one could even show the area around which your commander and any auto-recalls will start in the coming scenario.

Personally i'd steer clear of anything animated. Loading's quite resource intensive AFAIK...

Yes, but on the other hand a "still doing stuff, not frozen" animation might be handy.thespaceinvader wrote:Personally i'd steer clear of anything animated. Loading's quite resource intensive AFAIK...
Although, a loading screen that selects a random art piece - story images, or better yet non-story-related art/sketches for characters, units, and scenes - would be pretty nice.

Mm, good point. i don't know enough about the game's mechanics to know if it would be possible. But i'd hope that it might be...
