Of course.

Just for the record, I personally don't think I've seen a single good suggestion yet.

Agreed, but I do think it would be good if "Rebels" got a change.

SynErr: Knalga is the city of the dwarves, and using that name doesn't really say much about the human portion of that faction...

Back to work. Current projects: Catching up on commits. Picking Meridia back up. Sprite animations, many and varied.

Seconded, and i actually find most of the proposals much worse than the actual names...
So far, nothing new and really interesting came from this thread.

16:27 <zookeeper> what's wrong with loyalists?
16:28 -!- apple_ide [n=eric@124-168-152-237.dyn.iinet.net.au] has quit []
16:28 <Shadow_Master> <Shadow_Master> (They don't have the 'loyal' trait, i.e. zero upkeep ;))
16:28 <Shadow_Master> [10:01] <Shadow_Master> and Loyalists is what it is right now
16:29 <zookeeper> well that doesn't make any sense really
16:30 <Shadow_Master> zookeeper: what doesn't? That issue, or my reasons?
16:30 <zookeeper> both
16:31 <Shadow_Master> dang

well, it IS an alliance - you could say outlaws also hide in underground caves between raids. so a mutually beneficial alliance.

iirc i have brought the same thing up at least twice, but renaming ideas tends to get lost in full-power brainstorming&spam. i dare predict the same will happen here.
admit that i see future, everybody. NOW.

on a related topic:
elves - treehuggers
knalgans - rockhuggers
drakes - saurianhuggers (with negative fire resistance, it tends to turn out nasty)

Yep. That holds the current record for the most inappropriate piece of verbiage to make it into mainline. There are contenders, but most of those are just dumb, rather than offensive and silly.
"If gameplay requires it, they can be made to live on Venus."

Sure. But in that case, they had damned well better be called Venusians, and not Elves, Undead, or anything else.

And he just got reinforcements in svn: An Orcish Incursion (don't know the name of the orc who says it there).

Perhaps it's just a poor translation from Orcish. :P

im not sure but usual gods are important in games with fatasy-themes. So you might can call them "children of [name of god]" or something like that. Im not so good at english at all so im sorry if i make mistakes...

Ok, this thread wasn't helpful, so let turn on the soft lock mode...
Please don't post, unless you really have something interesting to add.

I'm not sure if it's interesting, so strike it down if it isn't, but I'd like to know why Zookeeper thinks none of the names are good. If we knew what flaws he was seeing in the suggestions, perhaps we could come up with ones that are more to his taste.

I agree with him though I can't explain either.
"There are two kinds of old men in the world. The kind who didn't go to war and who say that they should have lived fast died young and left a handsome corpse and the old men who did go to war and who say that there is no such thing as a handsome corpse."
