Funny forum memories

Post by Midnight_Carnival »

I have seen loads of things posted on the forums which just make me burst out laughing every time I remember them. A lot of them involve Turuk, for some reason I just found him really funny, but to avoid all the millions of Turuk fans weeping that he's not around, I will post a more recent one. I woke up at 05:00 this morning laughing at this:

On the Art Workshop EVILEST posted this really great portrait, and underneath it I saw

I haven't been around as much as some of you, and I'm sure there are many really funny ones that I missed out on, please tell me what funny things you have seen posted.
...apparenly we can't go with it or something.

I think it's funny when Mods lock things. For example, the long topic where this one guy wanted to change Undead to "Rockmen" and then gives a very lengthy and thought out post. And then Noy says "No" and locks it. :lol2:

I just found that really funny for some reason.

Hulavuta, I've always loved that thread too.

I also get a laugh, if not a groan, when people make up WML. For example: http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=27732

Code: Select all

# Canned definition of the Leadership (level 5) ability to be included in an

			[specials]
				{WEAPON_SPECIAL_MAGICAL}
			[/specials]

		name= _ "Guiding Light"
		female_name= _ "female^Guiding Light"
		description= _ "Guiding Light:

Also, all of the uninformed Trolls that complain about balance and RNG mess-ups and, when asked to provide a replay or any other proof, they do nothing.

I remember that thread about shadomaster and his powers. I think it was Gambits? Anyway, I loved that poem about Shadomaster, too bad the thread got locked (by no one other than shadomaster) and I couldn't comment it. It was brilliant! :Awesome:
Oh, I'm sorry, did I break your concentration?

For me, this is the post of posts.
EDIT: Strange, the link isn't working. It's noy's post at the bottom of the page.

Yeah, this was quite epic. So much so that it inspired another thread in the off-topic section… :lol2:

I have on more than one occasion written "this post made my day" but ironically I can't remember a single one right now... :(

You, Sir, have made my day with this typo in exactly this topic. Please leave it as it is.

Yeeaaah right. That one was hilarious, at least given the circumstances.

Thank you my good sir!

Pretty much just do a search for the word "locked" by the user "Turuk". Hilarity Ensues
Sadly some of the greatest pieces by this revolutionary artist occurred in the dark ages of auto pruning.

This thread and others from the time period were pretty damn funny too.

And of course this year's April fools joke was the best yet.

I wonder how many people remember that trolls lack BLUNT FORCE TRAUMA.
"There are two kinds of old men in the world. The kind who didn't go to war and who say that they should have lived fast died young and left a handsome corpse and the old men who did go to war and who say that there is no such thing as a handsome corpse."

Noy Circa 2006 was truly innovative and funny, where no newbie safe from the scourge of his bannhammer. It kinda reminds me of this ballad;

Then waken'd Thor,
And drew around his loins the mighty belt
Of bear-sinews;
With love fraternal harden'd he his shield,
With eager haste he sharp'd his blunted glaive,
And, with the iron of his hammer, touch'd
Each Dane's and every Norman's breast--
Shot his heroic flame therein, and smil'd!

Noy circa 2010 has just become a faded derivative has-been moderator. Think M Night Shyamalan after Sixth Sense (okay, maybe we'll give him Unbreakable too.)
I suspect having one foot in the past is the best way to understand the present.

That was funny in a way you just can't describe. Pure coldblood irony. Oh wait, I just described it... :)
