@Midnight_Carnival: you could install wesnoth to a flashdrive and run it off that.

That is an excellent advise. Thinking about it, one could advertise wesnoth as "Wesnoth Portable" in reference to all that portable software available today, which I personally like better since it leaves the registry untouched.
All of that refers to windows obviously.

That's why I advocated Wesnoth lite
It is so you can install it on a flashdrive and take it with you for when you need multiplayer fast. Leave out stuff like campaigns.

...apparenly we can't go with it or something.

I get it.
"There are two kinds of old men in the world. The kind who didn't go to war and who say that they should have lived fast died young and left a handsome corpse and the old men who did go to war and who say that there is no such thing as a handsome corpse."
Re: What do you hate about Wesnoth multiplayer?
Hm, should be possible to figure out which files are needed for mp only... The remaining stuff could be deleted by hand I guess...? Any thoughts on that?Midnight_Carnival wrote:That's why I advocated Wesnoth lite

I just looked into my folder, so the campaigns folder is only 50 MBs that would not make a huge difference. What could be left out without messing up mp?

I recall Wesnoth core being around 100Mb with data on Debian. Wesnoth LiveCD seems to be a nice alternative.HomerJ wrote:What could be left out without messing up mp?

That would sound alright, is something like that available/planned?CleverFool wrote:I recall Wesnoth core being around 100Mb with data on Debian. Wesnoth LiveCD seems to be a nice alternative.HomerJ wrote:What could be left out without messing up mp?

Re: What do you hate about Wesnoth multiplayer?
you could delete the campaigns, sounds (6.77MB), and music (127MB) which on windows removes a total ~186MB of space. installing only a few small add-ons and keeping the number of auto-saves low would also help.HomerJ wrote:I just looked into my folder, so the campaigns folder is only 50 MBs that would not make a huge difference. or you could buy a 2GB flashdrive from bestbuy for $9.99

At least one live DVD seems to be available here: http://live.linux-gamers.net/HomerJ wrote:That would sound alright, is something like that available/planned?
I wonder if there are smaller wesnoth-only solutions. At least these seem to be trivial to create. I may create the one when I have more free time.
Re: What do you hate about Wesnoth multiplayer?
I can understand you having problems with quitters. I used to be a rather avid Halo 3 player, and whenever someone quit on my team, let's just say I was annoyed. I mean, there are legitimate reasons for quitting, but sometimes people quit just because they don't want to play a certain game, don't want certain settings etc.Hulavuta wrote:The Lobby, (still on 1.8.0) quitters, bad partners, Elitists(People that think they are awesome) the long amount of time it takes to play which creates lots of quitters.
