But you can't sell talent...

@Speedbrain Incorrect.
EDIT: I guess that could be an alternate answer, but that's not what I had in mind.

Talent's actually an interesting guess. In a sense you do sell talent, all the time, as working artists can attest. This almost fits as well as my original answer--almost, but not quite, since most people at least have some notion of how much talent they may have. The real answer leaves no such options.

Wait, how can it be possible to sell something that can't be bought?

Anyway, a Tongue? Dancing?

@Speedbrain:
on the one nobody got yet: no, but you're painfully close, as was somebody I can't find now.

@elvish_sovereign : nice, I didn't get that one.

@catwhowalksbyhimself: love? patience? -never mind, I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours?

Here are two more I came up with on the way here, hence they are really easy:

I am the dwarf of the family
who all stand against me
yet I am the strongest of five
I am a comfort to children
and the bane of clumsy craftsmen
I am positioned to give you space when you need it
I once had the power of life and death
over the ancient warriors

-----------

I have many faces
but few regard mine
I'm condemned to never tell a lie
and those who seem to worship me
curse me for my honesty.

Good answer, but no...this one had to do with words having multiple meanings

first one: the thumb. clumsy craftsmen are said to be all thumbs, and in the times of gladiators, thumbs up at the Colosseum meant the loser lives, thumbs down meant the loser dies.

second: a mirror?

Here's another:

Men and women die beneath my eyes
While intense thought runs through those that use me,
But often things do not run as they want
And often they are dubbed 'winner' or 'loser'.

I also lead a cult
Where thousands of men and women gather
Under the steadfast thought of the leader I appointed:
A master of darkness, one with no joy, from the 70's.

Some take his leadership well,
Some don't and whine about it.
But I don't think about it and continue
To let men and women die beneath my eyes.

That one has got to be the President of the United States!

Which one? Well, that is up to the reader. :mrgreen:
