Re: What are you reading right now?

Actually, I love King's stories BECAUSE they're long. During my school year I had no time to read books I like, only those that we were learning about on Literature lessons. And usually we had to read like 200 pages of uber-boring crap in two weeks. I had to skip a lot to make it. So after final exams in May I wanted to read something really long and good and and take my time. I still had the feeling that I have to read faster and skip something. And then I thought- "hey, I don't have to hurry! I can read when, and how fast I like!". This first story was "Under the Dome". By King, of course. Ironically, I read it in 4 weeks (so 500 in 2), faster than ever before :)
please don't tldnr me :D

My point was more the slow evolution of the story, but maybe I am to focused on my first King book which I read in my young teens, which was "Insomnia". I remember it took ages to get to the point. Same with "Deadzone" which I read a little later.

The movie is actually quite good, mostly because it has Christopher Walken.

Dark Magician is reasonable fun, quite well-written. The prequel published afterward is good too.

Good Omens is pretty good. Gaiman and Pratchet complement each other really well.

It's a funny coincidence that - I bought a 3 for 2 in Waterstones the other day, which included Good Omens, which I've read many times but never actually owned. Looking forward to it now that I've finished Nemesis.

Anyone who like Roald Dahl out there?
Indeed I do good sir. :D
I have been a fan of his for many years. I have read all of the above items as well as more of his. I would also recommend reading "The BFG" and "The Witches", if you like his other stuff.
I haven't read any of his works in quite some time, but I have been meaning to reread "The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar and Six More" again.

I wish I got into Roald Dahl when I was younger. Sounds amazing.

I also think George R. R. Martin is great but mainly I've only read his short stories. Have you read "A Song For Lya" or "Sandkings?"

Meh, it's never too late, you know. They probably have them at whatever bookstore you go to. (Unless they're banned for whatever reason.)

It so happens I own Dreamsongs that includes Martin's biography as well as a wide array of his short stories. Sandkings has got to be one the best short stories I have ever read(except those written by Lovecraft of course :3), excellent style and a great storyline and one hell of a twist ending.
