Been reading some of Clive Cussler's books. The first one I read was alright, but didn't deliver the excitement it promised. Now I'm reading another one that I got for christmas called The Chase, which sounds alot better.

Very interesting book, so far
For scientific books, I recommend "A short history of nearly everything". The crazy annecdotes make the book worthwhile.
Thanks, mate. :D

Oh, by the way, I haven't read any of Michio Kaku's books and I'm quite curious to read one. Any special recommendations, or is only one book in particular worth a reading?

I've read his book on Hyperspace (of that name) and it was awesome. Fairly short, compared to Kip S. Thorne's "Einstein's Outrageous Legacy: Black Holes and Time Warps," a 2-inch thick, 900-page monster which I devoured in under a week.

I'll have to check out The Universe In A Nutshell...that one sounds like a good read.

Just finished Neal Stephenson's Anathem. My brain hurts. This book is a masterwork. I will probably have to read it several more times to actually understand it.

A soaring flight of imagination, intelligence, education, philosophy, occasional humour, and deep, deep thinking. Wow.

I'm reading the Four Lords of the Diamond series by Jack L. Chalker. One of my favourites.

I'm fixing to read: Why Revival Tarries, Revival God's Way, and Revival Praying by Leonard Ravenhill (non-fiction). I've read three of his books so far, all of which I've thoroughly enjoyed.
God bless,

I've been on a P.G. Wodehouse binge. Gloriously funny... though they tend to blur together somewhat, so actually it is not an especially good idea to read a bunch at once. Leave it to Psmith is my most recent.
Also finished re-reading Nightmare Abbey by Thomas Love Peacock. Brilliant. A really well-done audiobook version of it is available for free on www.archive.org.
(since it is free, I am not transgressing any explicit or implicit law of the forum by mentioning it, am I?)

Update: The Desert Spear was awesome and gets a hearty recommendation from me, as I fully expected that it would.

I'm now reading Trudi Canavan's The Assassin's Mission, another book set in her country of Kyralia, and so far it's good. She's a solid fantasy author.

Just finished The Ambassador's Mission the other night. As I thought it would be, it was a solid, enjoyable and well-characterised read. It was pretty predictable (I twigged who the bad guys were the first time each was mentioned) but nonetheless, very enjoyable. Kind of like reading a howdunnit mystery, as opposed to a whodunnit.

Iron Council by China Mieville

-makes me want to stop writing alltogether.
Really, I mean the guy can write a single sentence well, and when it comes to the whole novel there is nothing I can do to compete with him.

(I mean that it is really good)
...apparenly we can't go with it or something.

Just finished Ben Elton's Meltdown last night. A truly fascinating and immensely well-written (as I've come to expect from Elton) insight into the global financial crisis in the UK, through the eyes of the people who caused it. You will want to punch their annoying lights out, but it will be a very, very satisfying read.

Currently reading Jeremy Clarkson's How Hard Can It Be? - the latest in a long collection of his columns from the Times. It is, as usual, horrifyingly right-wing, but still very funny, and often makes a disturbing amount of sense.

Still reading The Stormcaller by Tom Lloyd. It's written in a third-person omniscient point of view, and it's really jarring when he switches viewpoints. Occasionally it's not even clear whose head we're in; a problem that's compounded by the size of the cast list. Some other people have complained about the lack of a map, but that actually doesn't really bother me. The action and intrigue are plentiful and interesting, but I'm not sure I'll continue the series.

I've got a crazy pair of books waiting for me at the library:

Towers of Midnight (Wheel of Time #13) by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson
Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss

Really looking forward to those!
