Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
Please make sure to read the wiki page regarding how Wesnoth handles copyright. Not reading on how Wesnoth handles copyright does not prevent the information stated therein from applying to everything posted to this forum.
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
There are certain technical requirement for mainline portraits. For easy access, I'm going to sticky them here so people can read them and link to them rather than having to type them out every time they're needed.
Generic unit portraits:
Two sizes are needed. One goes in the help, one is...
Welcome to Battle for Wesnoth's Art Forum. This is where a lot of our in-game images get hammered into shape, and is a place designed for the discussion of art designed for use in our game. In this topic, we've listed all the info you'd need to do your own work.
Here's a concept image for the upgraded Thunderguard - I'm tentatively calling it the Thunderprince, though the name is of course up in the air. Changes include gold, new gun position and a dragon-helm - loosely based on the idea that when a dragon attacks the dwarves, the thunderprinces are the...
Several Ideas really. One at a time though. Here is an idea for a unit. It would be recruitable in campaign, and be a rebel unit in Multi.
Level one. Name:Spirit.
Description: A dead elf that has come back to the world to right wrongs. This spirit fights best during the day, for it draws power from...
There seem to be a consensus to have a complete set of unit with the berserker skill, fom lvl1 to 3. So here is a first proposal of graphic.
temporay name: Lvl1 battlerager, lvl2 Berserker (or berserk), lvl3 berserk Champion.
Here are versions of the battlerager, with and without animal skull.
Next...
I'd love to have some input on these graphics, and this forum has a fantastic critical eye. Thanks!
How much do the current Wesnoth units use alphablending? I'd like to use it on the edges of all the characters, but I don't want the Dark Elf units to stick out like that. Also, I have animations for...
Its a bit darker than the first.. might have too much going on in the drums, but i can still fix that.. for now as mp3 and if there's nothing of need to be reworked and if its liked i'll make the ogg(takes a bit longer since i have to render wav and then ogg).
any input would be great ^_^.
In my previous post I said I thought dusk was a smidge too bright. So in the fine spirit of open source I opened dusk.ping in the gimp and twiddled with it a bit.
I recommend using dusk-c.png, but I'll attach all three of my mods, and two screen shots. The difference is pretty subtle, but a bit...
I'm taking a midi class and I have access to some pretty neat hardware. For my final project I have to make a song that is used in a larger multimedia project. Wesnoth seemed like the obvious choice to me =). Anywho. This is due tomorow so the more advice I get soon the better! However, I can still...
This is just an idea that comes to me. I've rediscover an old CD
where I had lots of modules music files (.MOD .IT .XM .S3M).
Why wouldn't BFW use some music in these format as they are (in general)
far less heavy than .OGG files?
You could have some rather long music (more than 5 minutes) for...
At the moment, Wesnoth's terrain system basically allows one image per type of terrain. This means that that one image must tile well, and it doesn't allow for much variation.
You can actually specify multiple images, but these images are chosen at random and so must all tile well with each other....
Images of a somewhat lizardish, transparent monster attached. Not sure what happened, but this guy's image in the unit details panel is back to a full body and not just its circulatory system.
Here is an new presentation of the cavewall terrain I shown in the discussion about ice terrain. I pasted a few hex near each other to test the junctions. While the junctions (mostly north-south) are not perfect, they look OK at the size used in the game. Alternatively it could be used for some...
Um... not to offend anyone, but the 3rd level Human Assassin needs a reworking... it has a full-face helmet and full body armor! When I saw the sprite, I was reminded of Halo, not Wesnoth...
As I mentioned in my introduction in the user forums, I love the new castles, and the graphics have improved a lot over time. Now, I have no skills as and artist, so I have no right to complain, but i have two grievances:
a) The one graphic the drives me crazy are the mountains. My eyes go a...
Based on Neo-rice-is-good's lizardmen units, due to impatience and a strong addiction to drawing stuff, I've made a lizardman shaman. Unit is named shaman just because of the tribal-ish way of the lizards and it's magician-like garb. Mostly designed to throw fireballs.
Just to advoid duplicate work I'll post images for the units that I already have done some kind of work on...
Like people asking for ghoul upgrades... When I created the unit I did the concept art and stats for the level 2 & 3 units... I even have some preliminar sprites but there were other more...
Kamahawk has done some proposed images for human archer units:
I thank Kamahawk for his patience in getting these images to us.
My opinion is that these images are suitable for inclusion in the game. I think that before we accept them though, it would be good if Kamahawk would animate...
I did a little work trying to do a replacement tiling for the mountains. Although one of them is called Hills, it probably would work better as the standard terrain, with the bigger mountain as an occaisional random alternative... If people like them I can work on the transitions when i get back,...
After pondering the use of walking corpse outside the main campaign.. I wanted to improve them a bit.. just giving them a level 1 upgrade
(The idea is to need 36 to 48xp to level so you dont see these guys too much ;-)
The souless...
The image still need a few polish but..
(animated gif with the...
All my graphics work so far has been pretty much based around reworking currently present units - admittedly to the point where the original is completely lost, in a few cases, but still a process of progressive modification rather than true creation. So, I thought I'd try my hand at actually...
I don't want to steal the Woses thread with my art, so i'm posting it in a new topic.
This is my interpretation of the wesnothian ancient wose. I personally think it looks better than the current one, others will have differing opinions. i can, of course, improve it according to your suggestions....
Yes, I'm aware that there's an argument going on currently about whether guns have a place in Wesnoth. Personally, I feel they're fine, so long as it's on a restricted and Olde Worlde basis - no rifles here, please!
Anyway, I always feel particularly gipped whenever I have a Level 1 unit which...
Dave just talked about it so I hurried an image :-)
I have another animated sprite construction gif file too but its just more of the same... if anybody wants it I'll post it.
