Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
4 portraits (3 are variations of a character)
4 story screens...
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
Please make sure to read the wiki page regarding how Wesnoth handles copyright. Not reading on how Wesnoth handles copyright does not prevent the information stated therein from applying to everything posted to this forum.
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
There are certain technical requirement for mainline portraits. For easy access, I'm going to sticky them here so people can read them and link to them rather than having to type them out every time they're needed.
Generic unit portraits:
Two sizes are needed. One goes in the help, one is...
Welcome to Battle for Wesnoth's Art Forum. This is where a lot of our in-game images get hammered into shape, and is a place designed for the discussion of art designed for use in our game. In this topic, we've listed all the info you'd need to do your own work.
this is a unit for my loyalist campaign, and is only used in one scenario, so don't yell at me about how humans shouldn't have a crossbow unit etc etc. just commment on the art and how it can be improved. :)
its an edit of the longbowman with the orcish crossbowman's crossbow added, if you...
Just doing a little more mucking about. I noticed that the Elvish Lord lacks animations, so I've alpha mapped the static figure and created a ranged attack poise. What do you think?
As observed by Christophe33 recently in his cavewall terrain thread, the diagonal bridge terrain is rather badly aligned - see for example the first map in the Undead campaign.
I therefore created and tested a terrain tile outlining what I consider to be better alignment of the diagonal bridge....
I have just implemented support for Wesnoth to have custom mouse cursors. These come in two varieties -- black and white SDL native cursors that usually run with hardware support (thus fast), and colour custom-coded cursors that may run slower (but obviously look nicer).
would there be any interest in having an orcish unit with an axe? i was thinking i would make a graphic of an orcish unit like the warrior holding an axe. even if you don't want it, i will probably make it anyway, but it might be an interesting unit idea.
i was thinking it could be an alternative...
I made a dwarf based on the dwarvish fighter images. I'm new to pixel artwork so, assuming the attachments are here, comments (or revisions :?) are welcome.
Also, maybe a brief rundown on how to add a new unit to the game?
Select what is your preferred image for the new level 3 upgrade of the knight. The images are fmunoz's original , the hybrid version and the plated one
(EDIT) After adapting the hybrid version to sword instead of warhammer, here are the variations. You should say what variation do you like, if...
A user has submitted a Perl script which appears to be able to automatically generate border images for tiles. The way it works is by copying the way in which border tiles are done for an existing terrain type.
The script can be found in CVS at tools/mk-edges.pl
I designed yet another unit, a non-military one: the peasant. Being the one who provides food to the people of Wesnoth, the peasant is a very appreciated fellow. But there's a problem: he has a hard time farming the land, since there is no cultivated fields in Wesnoth....
I thought the magic effects could updating and I thought I could use some practice with alpha trasparenct in the Gimp. I came up with these. Light missle will soon follow.
While mucking about with a concept for a Level 3 Revenant I was thinking of calling a Death Knight, I noticed that there's already a Level 3 Death Knight. Why doesn't the Revenant evolve into it?
Anyway, using fmunoz's Orcish Warrior as a base, I ended up producing a rather brutal looking...
Wesnoth needs cursors. A standard cursos as well as cursors for moving a unit, sending a unit on goto, attacking, and waiting for the AI to move. Only colors we can use are black, white, and transparent.
Here is a 2 frame 24x24 cursor for waiting. (Hope the size and the animation arn't problems)
Here is part of a map for Son Of The Black Eye (orcish campaign). I may change cities names as they are hrmmm, somewhat random. Also, I think I'll rework the northern part of the map, which was what I began with. This map will be zoomed and centered on parts of the map where scenarios occur at the...
I think that the unit display would be easier to read if it involved more icons and less text. Would it be possible to create small (around 16x16) icons for the following?
- all special abilities - heals,cures,leadership,marksman,magical,charge,etc
- the six basic types of attack -...
I just noticed that while you're underground, the game uses the First Watch picture, but mousing over shows the status to be Underground . Could we have a specific image for when you're underground?
As suggested by Dave in the User's forum, here it is a new possible upgrade from the Knight unit: A heavier version, possibly slower than the Paladin, without holy attack.
I've tried it inside the game, and doesn't look bad, but comments are welcome (and desirable).
a couple weeks ago i made two frames images for a paladin defensive image . it was never decided upon which image, to use, so i decided to start a poll on the subject. do you like the rearing up one, the standing still one, or neither?
I think we have to be careful in all the animations not to introduce a radical change in posture. The Scout's horse rears up so violently each time it gets attacked that it looks epileptic, especially since it happens each time the enemy swings, just for a moment. Other units that raise a shield or...
As stated old in the past (in my wesnoth graphic page ) some of the old unit images used in the game where heavily based in the old SNES game Ogre Battle.
For these new release (0.6.99.5) all units graphics with parts too similar to that game were redone.
Also as my pixel graphic skills have...
Now folks, beware the most dreaded creature of Wesnoth! Yeah, you named it: the rabbit. ;)
Was your worse nightmare hordes of rabbits sweeping through the lands of Wesnoth? Well, don't worry too much, then. This rabbit is not intended to be another military unit, but rather a special...
been doing a lot of pixeling lately. mostly cut and past, basically, i think i have a (somewhat) good paladin attack animation ready. these are the three pictures-
basically, ifyou can't tell, he rears back then charges. i tried it out in the game, and it looked cool.
