After two and a half years of development and thousands of commits made by dozens of contributors, the Battle for Wesnoth development team is proud to announce the availability of version 1.18.0 on...
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
As mentioned in the Wesnoth 1.14.4 release announcement, all previous Wesnoth versions including Lua scripting support are affected by a security vulnerability which potentially allows a malicious party to execute arbitrary code through the Lua engine by using specially-crafted code in...
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
I have installed all the components that are sayd here and when I type ./configure it checks like usually but it just can't locate sdl and I have downloaded it and all the other sdl-components and installed them in /usr..... but still autoconf can't find it :(
We're moving Wesnoth development to Gna! ( ) , this means that new bugs should be reported to Gna! bug tracking system instead of the old Savannah system. already points to the new location. Unfortunately there have been problems migrating the bug list from Savannah...
Iirc, Master at Arms unit was added around Wesnoth 0.9.7 or so, and it still has no animations - it would be great if he could get full pack of these in Wesnoth 1.1.
This is the first release candidate for Wesnoth 1.0 and we would like it to be the last one too ;)
Lots of bugs have been fixed and several more languages have reached 100% in the official core packages. As it was announced, only languages for which the core packages are...
(No, I am not asking for somebody to make one ;) )
I've made an OBLISK package for Battle for Wesnoth, and it works great. OBLISK is an installation system that aims to be distribution-independent and easy to use. See for more information on OBLISK.
I've just downloaded, compiled and started playing wesnoth 0.9.7 under 64-bit Suse Linux 9.3.
All I had to do was YaST-install the various dev libs (SDL*) mentioned in the compile guide, then .configure, make & make install. No issues... seems to work well.
This has been a really quick release, its main purpose is to fix some annoying and important bugs in networking, and get them tested by users. It also contains less important bugfixes.
Because of the string freeze, several languages have reached 100% in the official packages...
As the previous release, this one is just another step towards a shiny Wesnoth 1.0. It contains mainly bugfixes but also new portraits for lots of units and, of course, translation updates.
Several translation teams have already got the core...
Just thought I would let all you developers know that I can't upload my campaign using version 0.9.6. What happens is that I go through the normal procedure (go to campaings, get more campagns, upload Northern Rebirth ). Then it gives me the normal GPL message and I click ok. Then it says,...
This release is an additional step towards Wesnoth 1.0 and mainly
contains bugfixes in both campaigns and multiplayer code. It also
features some user interface improvements.
In addition, some new images and portraits have been added, a new unit has
found its way into the...
I'm currently playing Wesnoth 0.9.4. One thing has caught my eye: When saving in the middle of a fight and the loading again, the fight is over. This means a unit's used turns/attacks are not saved or don't get loaded right. I doubt it's a good idea at all to be able to save between the end of...
Answering myown question just in case someone else gets bitten :
I had the following error with wesnoth CVS version :
bernard@cortex:~/CVSWesntoh/wesnoth$ /bin/sh ./autogen.sh
aclocal: configure.ac: 252: macro `AM_PROG_CC_C_O' not found in library
autom4te: /usr/bin/m4 terminated by signal: 2...
Hi, I don't really know if this is the place to publish this, but currently
compiled the wesnoth cvs tree with support for the tinygui.
It compiled well but at doing the install I found that I had no
pngmeta, yet when I went to grab it the one I found hasn't
been updated for a long time, and...
I've downloaded and installed version 0.9.4 for Windows recently and have discovered there's a problem with the map editor : it runs fine but if I try to save the map, it tells me illegal character in file name and won't save it. It didn't use to do this in 0.9.1 and I can't seem...
Since the official 0.9.2 server is having some trouble at the moment, a user, ne0futur has been kind enough to offer us a backup server. You can connect Wesnoth to wesnothfr.ww7.be if the official server doesn't work.
I run Mac OS X. I also have a pretty big monitor. Unfortunately because of the negative synnergy of CPU-blitting games and Mac OS X's modern composition layer, Battle for Wesnoth at my 1792 x 1344 screen resolution ran really slow. In fact, even lower resolutions ran really slow. I was...
Let's start from the beggining:
Im using fully updated Mandriva Linux 2005 LE
I have all SDL packages installed (both regular and devel)
and still i can't compile the game because it says i don't have SDL_mixer installed. I tried everything and finally landed up here. I could just use rpm package...
This release features lots of balancing changes, new graphics for units, terrains and villages, and two new units, the Orcish Slurbow and the Dark Sorceror.
As usual, there has been lots of bugfixes and translations have been updated.
This message is mainly targetting the mdk packager of Wesnoth. I know the people here don't support the binary versions. I think it is Shade, but I am not sure at all.
I run the 2005 LE version of Mandriva.
I installed the prm I found in contrib (wesnoth-0.9.2-1mdk.i586.rpm).
I'm trying to make South Guard happy in 0.9.3, and I'm running into an annoying bug. When I'm watching the story before my first scenario, I like to press the next button to display all of the text instantly.
Right now, pressing the next button once does nothing. Pressing it a second time takes...
Every time a new version of Wesnoth comes out, it seems like we have the same questions asked over and over again. Not that we think this will really help with the problem, but we are going to make an obligatory attempt by posting some frequently asked questions about the process for a new version...
A little testing has shown that if I move my data directory sideways and replace it with the CVS one, I can start wesnoth (ok, it rebuilds the cache in my home dir - good) and play with the CVS definitions of the units. However my version is still 0.9.2 and I have no idea what would happen if I...
