After two and a half years of development and thousands of commits made by dozens of contributors, the Battle for Wesnoth development team is proud to announce the availability of version 1.18.0 on...
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
As mentioned in the Wesnoth 1.14.4 release announcement, all previous Wesnoth versions including Lua scripting support are affected by a security vulnerability which potentially allows a malicious party to execute arbitrary code through the Lua engine by using specially-crafted code in...
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
Hi,
I tried, but miserably failed so far to compile wesnoth on windows XP. I have dutyfully followed the link
( i mean I have installed MSYS, devc++ and all the libraries needed then create a Jamfile). At that point, I tried 3 options:
1) run jam -> At one point in the Jamfile, ( HDRS =...
Anyone have plans of creating Gentoo ebuilds for the development line? I don't know how difficult it would be to create an ebuild for 1.1.2a, but it would be nice if I could emerge the newer version.
I have trouble compiling and running wesnoth from the svn. Which I have not had before. And I do not remember having updated the system since I last ran wesnoth.

This version features two new campaigns added to mainline, The South Guard and Under the Burning Suns, while the less polished ones have been removed. In addition, the tutorial has also been replaced by a nicer one. The rest of campaigns have got some improvements too.
I think it's a good question. It seems to me like there's just a pile of things to do next and when at least most of them are done there's another release. For example, changing some art and working in new music while adding tweaks to units for balance.
I was curious as to how it is decided when to release a new version, say 1.1.2 over 1.1.1? I ask because there are a lot of changes in the 1.1.1+svn changelog that seem like they could justify a new version; Many graphics have been added, a lot of balancing changes have been made, and some new...
It includes tons of cool new features, and should be stable enough to enjoy it.
You're welcome to start stress testing 1.1.1 and to report all the bugs you find. If this release happens to be too unstable for multiplayer games just switch back to the 1.0.x branch, which...
I'm on the Windows build recently released and found a few bugs:
 Still kicked from game when accessing Preferences as a player
 ECaptain improperly teamcolored while standing, not while leading (didn't see attacking yet)
 Damage dealt not shown when in accelerated mode....
I am a rather veteran player of strategy games...and just recently I discovered this little fun game called wesnoth...its not so much the game that i like...(i really dont like the anime look to it but ok  )...but the engine which promises a lot...but it needs some development...I will help as...
This is the first release coming from the new development branch.
It includes lots of cool changes but it can include some hidden nasty brokeness too ;)
If you want to play stable multiplayer games we encourage you to keep using the 1.0.x branch. If you want to test the latest...
Do you have any longterm goals that you work towards? As each version of wesnoth comes out it is bug fixes and balances of units, perhaps some new units or better images on occation.
So basically what might be some big changes in wesnoth that you plan to do in the future?
* Ranged weapons should be able to reach across multiple hexes
Background: suggestions that units such as archers (or perhaps catapults) should be able to fire their weapons across multiple tiles
Result: although the game engine does support this,...
After downloading a campaign and extracting it into C:\Program Files\Wesnoth\userdata\data\campaigns (as mentioned in the downloading page) dose'nt work,What to do next??? :?:

This is the second maintenance release after Wesnoth 1.0.
This release fixes a specially annoying MP bug, namely the gamelist diff one. In addition, new terrains graphics have been added, including cool roads and swamps.
It also includes lots of fixes for campaigns bugs and...
