IIRC, information gained from shroud (and fog, for that matter) can be either shared between teammates or not shared. So, you can set it so side 1 can see side 2's castle if they're allied, even if there's shroud on the map, and you can also set it so they can't. The latter is the default.

Discovered a bug in wesnoth where event=die wasn't raised for player's leader.
