Wesnoth Organizational Updates Permanent archive for updates on decisions or reports made by the Battle for Wesnoth Project Council and the Wesnoth, Inc. Board of Directors. Moderator:Forum Moderators
Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
I'm trying to get the server to compile on Mac OS X. The build goes fine (except it seems to need sdl_utils as well as the files listed in the makefile) and the main() needs to be changed to main(int argc, char** argv).
Trying to run the prog seems to lock up, though the console give a...
At the moment, most Elvish units are 'Lawful', meaning they are good at day, bad at night. Human units are typically 'Neutral', meaning they are unaffected by day/night.
We are considering changing this, to make humans good at day, bad at night, and Elves neutral to day/night effects. After all,...
Is there a level editor? I would love to make some, but would rather not fullaround with the text files if I didn't have to. I'de be more than happy to design several levels for the campain for for multi-player, or a new campain if you like, but if there isn't an editor is there a detailed...
The most frequently requested addition to the game currently is sound and music.
Recently there was an offer by FunkBunny studios to produce free music posted on happypenguin.org. I have emailed them and they're interested in doing music for the game. So, hopefully there will be some good quality...
Just wondering how much bandwith the various versions take up? I have a 6gb monthly limit on my main account and the 900+ downloads have eaten dramatically into that. I wouldn't mind updating the MacOS X version as 0.4.9cvs currently has some major improvements for the mac version,...
It would be a good thing if all units that are commanded by the same human/AI/network player had some color to show who they belonged to.
The little black/green dot is not enough with 4 different armies.
On the Mac build the preferences are stored in a .wesnoth folder which is invisible. Is this the case on the Unix and other builds?
If so, is it considered normal to have the preferences invisible? Typically this is frowned upon on the Mac for non-system files, not least because it makes tidying...
Battle for control of villages, using variety of units which have advantages and disadvantages in different types of terrains and against different types of attacks. Units gain experience and advance levels, and are carried over from one scenario to the next campaign.
Something broke on the Mac OS X version of the cvs yesterday... all versions crashed when displaying the game (cf menu). Today, looking at 1.30 of display.cpp I commented out parts of draw_minimap() as this appears to be the function causing the crash.
What about adding narrators for the history frames and the in-game dialogs? And perhaps a couple sound files for the units would be nice too (you know, a sound is played when selecting a unit, issuing orders, etc).
I'm sure that more than one member of the forum would be eager to have his voice...
In which ways is Wesnoth like or unlike Warcraft and other games of the same genre? My only experience with a game similar to ``Battle for Wesnoth'' is a few hours of total play time of the original Warcraft---and that was many years ago. How does Wesnoth compare to other games (both old and new)...
I was looking at version 0.1, the first released version of Wesnoth, released only 3 months ago, and realized how far we have come in such a short time.
Below is a screenshot of version 0.1, followed by a screenshot of the current CVS snapshot. Congratulations to all involved, and especially to...
When I tried this morning to update the profile for wesnoth in Icewalkers I found that somebody had alredy did it. :-)
I'll list all the wesnoth entries thatI know about.
Feel free to visist any and rate the game.
I have recently added primitive network multiplayer functionality to CVS.
This allows one player to host a game, and others to join it.
The networking has been tested briefly, and 'just' works. When hosting a game, it will simply freeze until other players connect. So it's rather primitive at the...
At last I find the time and motivation to draw the 2nd level human Scout.
Cuirassiers or Dragoons ?Thats the question.
Both names are historicaly wrong (see ), but sounds nice.
Maybe keep the other one to the 3rd level image.
While setting the CVS to add it I just post the stats here :-)...
In order to make releases more stable we will be announcing certain CVS snapshots as release candidates, which we hope to test thoroughly. If a release candidate passes testing acceptably, it will be announced as a version.
Thus without further ado, I announce 0.4.8 Release Candidate 1. You can...
I have noticed that there are many missing descriptions for the units in the game (non-elven units). Who is in charge of units descriptions and, does he/she needs a hand?
My name is Claus and I've been checking this project for a while now. Looks really really promising :-) I wish I...
Ettin noticed that Wesnoth has appeared on Debian WNPP/requested list -
WNPP stands for Work-Needing and Prospective Packages, WNPP for short, is a list of packages in need of new maintainers and prospective packages in Debian.
More information about Debian WNPP can be found here -...
- wesnoth-cvs-commits receives an email every time a change is commited to CVS. This is likely to be a high-volume mailing list
- wesnoth-releases receives an email every time a version is released. This is likely to be a low-volume mailing list.
O.k. I've been suggested to work out some units for this game and well, maybe I will give it a try.... is there any list of missing sprites or something to take into account?
Okay, let's do some testing of multiplayer (and have some fun!) by having a multiplayer play-by-email tournament.
Anyone who is interested, please let me know in this thread, and include your email address and the race you would prefer to be, humans, elves, or orcs. Players who are interested will...
I have done some work with menus and borders, now lets discuss about it ;).
Here's a test screenshot: New menus .
This screenshot shows some border examples (silver and golden) and the new slides (still needs some work). Why I changed the style of the rightside menu? Consistency.
Zas has sent me a patch that allows custom mouse cursors to be set in the game. I think it'd be cool if the mouse cursor changes sensitive to the context - an hourglass when waiting for the AI to move, a sword if moused over an enemy and clicking will attack, etc.
Hello.
Perhaps it would be great to have an option to turn of movement animation and just place the fighter at the destination hex. The same for fighting, just skip to the outcome of the battle.
