Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
4 portraits (3 are variations of a character)
4 story screens...
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
Please make sure to read the wiki page regarding how Wesnoth handles copyright. Not reading on how Wesnoth handles copyright does not prevent the information stated therein from applying to everything posted to this forum.
As you know, I am currently working on Gameplay 04. When this is done, I would like to create good Victory and Defeat music.
To ensure that the majority of you are satisfied with the Victory and Defeat music, please post here some adjectives or descriptive terms to explain how you think each...
A few weeks ago, I played the tune found on the following website while playing Wesnoth. It is a little too Jewish to be a good fit with normal Wesnoth music, but I thought I'd post the link in case Wesnoth composers find inspiration in it:
N.B. I do not necessarily endorse all the theology of...
EDIT: Removed the e-mail address (due to a request). We have PM's and such here on the forums, which are the very preferred way of communication. In this case though, it should be this...
Ok, wondering if there is a way to make custom playlist and I basically have two ways of looking at it.
1. Take my favorite songs...convert them to .ogg files....rename them to match the exact names of the .ogg files in wesnoth...then replace the wesnoth files with my custom files.
(not sure if...
I really want to put the new wesnoth tracks on my shiny new mp3 player coz they rock so much, but have no idea of any programs that will open OGG format musics.
You guys know of any?
Or any plugins for Windows media player or quicktime that can play them?
Or any programs that will convert them to...
I've been struggling for over a week now, writing little passages and then discarding them again. To be honest I don't really know where I'm going, if anywhere, and it seems I'm not happy with anything I try. All I get is short snippets of music that I can't seem to string together. I have one...
I wanted to update you on my progress for Wesnoth.
I have a few minutes of music composed for Gameplay 04, and I continue to slowly add to the piece. For the next couple months, my work on this piece will unfortunately slow down a little.
All right, here is my first piece of music written with BfW in mind. It's not finished of course, it's not even a minute long. It should also be noted that it's mainly an experiment. It was written in a more-or-less improvised fashion during my attempts at beating Edirol Orchestral into submission,...
I posted a little thread in the Art contributions section, offering to do some art for the game if/where needed. But as I'm also a musician I would love to contribute with some music as well (or instead, as I'm not sure I'm able to find the time to do both). I don't know if my skills meet your...
I put a music file on wesnoth's wikipedia page ( I just poked around randomly and picked a track that I liked.
I thought it would be good to gauge opinion on what track should be on the WP page. It should be a high-quality track, and should represent the style of music in wesnoth.
I like Aleksi's idea of music for a boss, or a special situation . I think it should be used sparingly though, sometimes less is more. It might sound funny if one of your orchestral runs was cut in the middle when your leaders health went down... Maybe not....
Hail,
Since this is a reworking with extra parts and additional length, I thought it deserved its own post for feedback. Suggestions are open for a name for the piece. It's quite grim and has a Medieval feel, so something with Knights , or Monastic in the title should be good...
I was asked by a developer of wesnoth to compose music for wesnoth.
Before this, I didn't know the game at all but after playing it, I fell in love with it. I hope my style fits to the game. It's a bit darker than the usual wesnoth music but I hope the main composers will allow it in the game....
Some people have complained about these. I'd post rebuttals, but instead, I'll simply say that:
I wholly endorse the new music. It's great - in fact; no - it's incredible . It's like it was made for a commercial game by professional composers. Keep on rocking, and ignore any naysayers. :) You guys...
I stumbled across BfW just this weekend and I've been instantly drawn to the game. Brings me back to some games I've played in the past (like Disciples or Lords of the Realm II).
Anyway, music has been a hobby of mine, and I'd be interested in playing around with GarageBand coming up...
I rather like the new music, but one thing I'm missing is the music that used to played when fighting Undead, like Muff Malal's Pennisula in 1.0.x. I can see that this music doesn't fit in well with the new music, but it new means we've no longer got any music that suits undead battles so well....
I do not like the new music for the game and have recently been trying to change the music. I have been copying and pasting old music (from 1.1.2) into 1.1.7 and for some reason when I try to play the game I hear NO music at all. Just the menu music.
The sound effect for receiving new text messages is jarring and loud compared to the other, very nice new sound effects that I have been enjoying in-game.
I found a nice replacement on my own computer that plays a soft digitized whoosh. It's not GPL'd, though (something Bjorn Lynne did for a...
I notice we've started using macros for sounds - e.g., we don't list out all of the miss.ogg files in each unit file, we just put {SOUND_LIST:MISS}. This makes a lot of sense, but I was wondering: is there a reason we only do this for some files, and not all? For example, we have {SOUND_LIST:MISS},...
A friend has composed a piece, with oboe and piano. It's about 3 minutes, and I'll put it at disposition of who wants to include it in a custom campaign (Contact me and I'll send it by e-mail).
Hi
I have recently reached wesnoth game when I was looking for some games to contrubute regarding the music.
As i read in Guidelines for Music Contribuition :
It should be orchestral music in a classical style of some type. No techno beats and electronics...
As we were discussing in my last topic post 2 questions regarding...
zookeeper wrote that there is actually music in the process of composition/recording... what brings me the question of the topic
is there room for new music yet?
I'm compiling this unit sound database from my own samples.
These samples are raw recordings, so they are not edited in any way. They are going to function as a source of topical samples for all to use. Some samples need more editing than others, some don't need editing at all, that is for you,...
Having enjoyed Wesnoth a great deal lately, I felt that I'd like to contribute somehow. I realize that the bar for music submissions is quite high, and I'm not sure I measure up, however I thought I'd show a couple of my somewhat-recent pieces (composed previously, for unrelated...
