Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
Please make sure to read the wiki page regarding how Wesnoth handles copyright. Not reading on how Wesnoth handles copyright does not prevent the information stated therein from applying to everything posted to this forum.
I found myself humming a little melody last night, right out of the blue, and thought to myself hey, that could be a good theme for something . But when I tried putting some chords behind the melody I suddenly realised that maybe the reason it sounded good was that it was familiar somehow. I don't...
If anyone's looking for a powerful and highly affordable audio/midi sequencer, you should definitely check out REAPER . I came across this app for the first time maybe a year and a half ago, but at the time it lacked a lot of crucial features (IIRC, it didn't...
You posted the new skeleton hit sounds just before the forum crash (which I have saved), but I don't see you as having reregistered yet (since your account was also lost). Still interested in working on the sounds as you said you might be?
Just posting in case you're lurking around unregistered as...
I have read in several threads that people do want a different main menu music. So i've taken a bit of time to work on one. I have my exams starting this week until the end of the month. I should have a big part of my summer to work for Wesnoth. its been quite a while. And i...
Timothy, this is your piece. (Gameplay02.ogg I believe) Do you have information on the composition of this piece? (e.g., what software you used, whether this was entirely your own work etc.)
Wonder if someone can point out some of the names of classical medieval instruments, and I wonder if fruitloop studio has it. Spent a lot of energy looking for instruments I like (or had in mind) but always end up with half-assed versions of them.
I only just played my first game of Wesnoth a few days ago, but when I heard gameplay02.ogg, I recognized it from somewhere else, and assuming this is a Free Software project, this is not good news.
I recognize gameplay02.ogg as a tune from Morrowind (Elder Scrolls III). I could be wrong, because...
I like the new [censored] crow sound effect, but it arguably has been put at the wrong time of day. Since each Wesnoth turn is four hours long, it is clear that morning covers 8:00 AM - 12:00 Noon. This is much too late in the day for a rooster to be crowing in the first light of the rising sun. Dawn,...
Anyway, quite a while ago, I filed a bug report with a plea to add proper tags to the music files. It was acted upon and while I haven't checked, 1.0 probably had better tags than the previous releases.
BfW's music is one of the features that attracted me to the game, and eventually to its dev group. I'm an audiophile, a musician, and a composer myself -- and long-time fan of the kind of music BfW uses, with an analytical ear for it and some knowledge of its history. From that perspective, some...
I have received multiple requests that Aleksi and I give titles to our gameplay music.
Originally, we thought it would be easy to give a standard naming system to the tracks for ease of tracking and organization, and it didn't seem to matter since no one ever saw the track names.
I have just tried Wesnoth today.. It seems interesting, and I'm sure after a short while I shall be producing modifications and campaigns.. But, in the meanwhile.. I offer my services in the composition sector.
Having just played the game, and heard but a mere few tracks.. I was by no means...
When you listen to classical music or movie soundtracks, you often hear a lot of dissonant stuff going on in passages that are meant to create tension. Most often it's harmonies that sound outright wrong (bad, even), which is of course why we percieve the music as creepy or threatening. I can't...
I liked it, the Saurian and Undead theme also. Why have them disapeared ?
New themes are all right, but, guys, you shouldn't go for dog food john william's made commercial themes.
John Williams stole everything from Gustav Holst.
Meanwhile, Wesnoth's music composers here are talented.
Similar to how we have the piece elf-land.ogg providing some nice happy vocals, would it be possible to write something that features strong-sounding scary male vocals? I hope you can intuit what I'm talking about since I don't know if I can explain it properly. There are some songs where they are...
I've just coded some preliminary support for sounds sources , which are basically sound effect associated with locations (or objects), that play with some probability and minimum delays in between. Also, the location must be visible on screen (and optionally not fogged) for the sound...
I like to make some soundeffects for Battle for Wesnoth. Since i am no musician i don't try to make music again, but i think to make soundeffects is much easier to do.
I have made some sounds to see for myself, how to do this. I find it is fairly easy and fun to do with the right...
Hi there, I'm a semi-amateur (university student) composer who's just started a track which could use critique- I've played BfW quite a bit now, and although I still suck at it (save-loading on normal, lol) I reckon I'm not too bad at making music for it.
Ok, i did a mistake and called it gameplay 06 on my audio application. I can't really rename all the files attached to it. So be it… Either Timothy will call his next music gameplay 05 or we will just name my next one like that!
So, it is almost finished, i still have to mix it, equalize it...
I'm trying to recreate a few rather simple songs from sheet music (for soon-to-be disclosed purposes), but I'm puzzled by one particulart part in this particular song. See the attached image for the notes and the attached .zip for the .ogg of how far I've gotten so far, as well as this page to hear...
Is it just me or does everyone find the spear thunk really painful on the ears? I don't know how it does it but it sort of resonates at just the right level to hurt me.
First of all let me say that I'm not very happy with this so far, and that it's just a very crude thing. I'm obviously going to have to work a great deal more on it. But right now it feels like I'm going nowhere and everything I try sounds like crap, so I wouldn't mind some feedback. I'm...
I'm trying to take the drums from the start of wesnoth-2 and make it into a four-bar looped sequence. However, I'm having trouble getting something that doesn't have an obvious break between four-bar cycles. Will this work if I fine-tune this, or am I attempting the impossible?
I hope this is the right section to ask: sometimes I play in the server when I'm doing other things, and when I look at the games' list, I always notice that a new game was created when I was not looking... why don't you add a sound for games creation?
