Re: Pick Your Recruits Armageddon (Standard & Extended)

Yesterday i had a great match against IPS on howling ghost badlands. :) (and a lot of talk) Sides were: IPS: Shadow Mage - Dark Adept, Desert Fighter, Elvish Archer, Junior Commander, Mudcrawler, Naga Guardian, Skeleton Horus2: Elvish Marksman - Dwarvish Fighter, Orcish Archer, Saurian Augur, Thief,...

Re: Pick Your Recruits kfki Standard and Extended

A bit late, but my answer is here: Apprentice mage is stronger than the shadow mage (in everything except exp , and thats only 1 point difference) but costs less-maybe make them the same stats exactly except for neutral/chaotic? Look better at the stats before you state such thing. Rogue Mage has +1...

Re: Pick Your Recruits kfki Standard and Extended

Pick Your Recruits Extreme? Pick Your Recruits Ultimate? Advanced Pick Your Recruits? Pick Your Recruits Deluxe (yes I know thats feeble)? Like the era :). I think it beats zookeepers, but maybe thats just me. Anyway, good job, and happy coding! P.S: As an idea, maybe code it into a PYR campaign? S...

Re: Pick Your Recruits kfki Standard and Extended

A request for everyone! I'm not happy with "kfki" in the title of the era. It is an acronym of the hungarian wesnoth server, and used to distinguish our PYR from the original. Now, as everyone can download and play it, i find it a little awkward. I ask you to come up with a more striking ...

Re: Pick Your Recruits kfki Standard and Extended

IPS: you missed an important point. Heavy Infantryman is only 18 gold in this era, because as you mentioned, HI is weaker for his original cost than his spear-wielding colleague.
That's the main purpose of the entire era; to make every unit useful.

Re: Pick Your Recruits kfki Standard and Extended

Nice, finally this becames interesting, finally a Pick Your Recruits with Extended Era's unit =D I have a suggerence, It must be more balanced to have a determinated count of units in your list than for a count of gold. If you have 100 gold to pick your unit's list by the unit's price, then the pla...

Re: Pick your ideal recruits

and what leadres are good in this era? For leader, everything works what you would choose in default for your faction. Use one of them as a patch for the not-so-obvious weakness of your team. Personally i vote for Elvish Marksman, Drake Warrior and Troll as the best. Well, I can always dodge this w...

Re: Pick your ideal recruits

Personally I'd do Cavalryman, Dark Adept, Saurian Skirmisher. You're right, and might be even better than my guardsman-version. :) Although i find the skirmisher a bit fragile when the tide turns, and he has 50% in village... cavalryman can't hold it either, so this could be a problem. When the tea...

Re: Pick your ideal recruits

Interesting, does this mean the possible Slow/Berserk combo shaman and ulf doesn't work in real combat? Greetz HomerJ :hmm: Actually, it works, and it's a clever combo to break through the key element of defense. Most of the time, i get the feeling the unit limit of five is just too strict to be sm...

Re: Pick your ideal recruits

I'm going to disagree that having both lawful and chaotic units is a great way to deal high damage at both times of day it is a good way to have a decent portion of your force relatively useless when the other half wants to attack and vice versa. This force tends to be pretty cost efficent and as a...

Re: Pick your ideal recruits

So when you are playing pick your recruits era, you are allowed to choose 5 units. So what 5 units you would choose from the default era? Of course this varies by map and such, but just something that would work. With 5 units allowed to choose, possibilities are very limited since you have to prepa...

Pick Your Recruits Armageddon (Standard & Extended)

Pick Your Recruits Armageddon What's this era about? Pick Your Recruits Armageddon is a remake of zookeeper's PYR. The main concept is, instead of having factions, you can customize your own team before each game. In the first turn, your leader is stoned, you have 100 gold and and you can use the r...

Re: The Modern Multiplayer Map Reader's Digest

Alright, I've recently finished a version of Hamlets that I'm pretty happy with. I didn't end up keeping Rigor's changes, but they did get things moving in the right direction, and for that I thank him. Small tweaks may follow, and as always, replays are most useful. :) My concern i mentioned above...

Re: The Modern Multiplayer Map Reader's Digest

cool. today ive had an insane match drakes vs the ud (rigor vs horus) - which unlike my first assumption showed a perfect usage of the additional terrain on the flanks. i hope horus will register soon and post the replay with a throughly description of the (battle) events. im really glad u like the...
