Re: heir to the throne the dwarven doors
I think that list is a bit harsh, in that it gives an impression you need more than you do (my opinion, of course). I've managed all right with 6-8 fewer units than his range, but on the whole, it's a pretty reasonable guide. Perhaps I wasn't that clear, I meant to imply that that is a typical reca...

Re: heir to the throne the dwarven doors
i have 500 plus gold and a elvish ranger and a elvish high lord By the time you get there, you should have a few more troops. You want to aim to arrive at the start of the level with a recall list something along these lines: Konrad (Level 3). Kalenz (Level 2-3) - Use him to weaken trolls, because ...

Re: Unit Advanacements
I hate Javelineers. I hate their low HP, weak attacks, lack of advancements, and lack of special abilities. (Well, okay, first strike, but Pikemen do it better.) I do take them sometimes, like when I'm facing armies of assassins. But usually, I've got other units that deliver strong ranged attacks,...

Re: Unit Advanacements
For Magi, I tend to go White, Red (Arch), White, Red (Silver), White, Red (Silver) etc. I very rarely need more than one Archmage/Great Mage, so I put the experience to better use (you can get 2 Silver Magi and a Red Mage for the XP you have to invest in a Great Mage). The Silver Mage is also great ...

Re: Overpowered Faction. Requires reduction.
While I get where you're coming from, bad luck isnt always an excuse... I just played a game where out of the ~100 attacks my units launched (or retaliated with) less than 15 of them hit... (over 50 of those attacks I had 60-70% chance TO hit). Sometimes your computer just hates you... That occasio...

Re: The Point of Goblins?
Ok, let's run some numbers. Horseman is Lawful, has 38 HP and 9-2 Pierce Attack (Resistances: 30% Impact, 20% Blade, -20% Pierce). Goblin Spearman is Chaotic, has 18 HP and 6-3 Pierce Attack. Goblin Impaler is Chaotic, has 26 HP and 8-3 Pierce Attack with Firststrike. Orcish Grunt is Chaotic, has 38...

Re: The Point of Goblins?
Non-Dim Goblins require only 18 XP to level into Goblin Impalers, which gain the Firststrike ability on an 8-3 melee attack. By comparison, Non-Intelligent Grunts require 42 XP and Non-Intelligent Whelps require 36 XP to level up. If you get an Impaler, then they become the bane of all mounted units...

Re: Bats: Flying Wonders?
How do you thinks that ghosts move? Do you think that they generate energy? No, they don't. Technically speaking, it's true that ghosts don't generate energy, but then according to the conservation of energy laws, neither does anything else. However, conservation of energy is irrelevant in Wesnoth,...

Re: Need help with "The Rise of Wesnoth" campaign
You need some tough units that do impact damage to soak up hits and dish out some big hits themselves, the best four in my opinion are the Shock Troopers from the second scenario and Burin the Lost (in the house by the signpost) from the third scenario. You can add some Thugs as well, but your enemi...

Re: Is it worth it?
That's completely valid and I do do that as well, but a Sorceress has three chances to hit, which is a big advantage when taking on a unit with a good defense score. Enchantresses and Sylphs are even better in that respect.

Re: Is it worth it?
I generally find that the most useful thing about a Sorceress is the slow attack. By slowing a high level enemy unit, you halve its damage and therefore make it feasible to have several first level units attack it for the experience without imminent risk of annihilation. It works particularly well w...

HttT - Final Scenario Error
Playing through HttT on Version 3.1.14 (Windows XP SP2), I defeated Asheviere and on clicking End Scenario, got the attached error message, which shut down the campaign. It saves the game, but it crashes in exactly the same way on loading it again.
