Re: Three wise magi
The sprites aren't bad, but they don't really look like magic users to me. Also, their swords look more like daggers or large knives. The old Shadow Mage didn't really look "magic user-ey" to me either. If I recall the imagery right these guys are meant to be more outlaw than mage, with n...

1063. You recall that Northern Rebirth probably still generates enough gold to go over 1000 easily even if it was rebalanced under new gold rules.
1064. You can complete Northern Rebirth on Nightmare.

Re: Resurection of Wesnoth Campaign
I stand by my statement that knowledge is power. Understandable - it hardly takes a genius to work out that this statement is true in all situations. It is very predictable that Ranvan becomes a lich or otherwise becomes undead, so he'll have eternity to study. More than that, Alduin contains histo...

Re: Scenario Review: DiD 10 - Alone at Last
(1) What difficulty level and version of Wesnoth have you played the scenario on? Medium, 1.6a; Easy/Medium/Hard, 1.4 series (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 7. 10 before I thought "this is the climax of the campaign, I can afford to lose all my veterans" (3) How clear d...

Re: Heir to the Throne rant/idea suggestion
I recall he's more like 17, 18 by the end of the campaign - maybe not completely gotten over himself, but certainly old enough to stop whining and get on with the job. Particularly after Alduin, when he realises he can't run any longer and is first to say "Strike back".

Re: Heir to the Throne rant/idea suggestion
While going through the dialogue with intent to mess around with it, I noted that - bizarrely - Konrad actually sounds MORE confident in Bay of Pearls if you fail to beat both leaders, when surely he'd be bolstered by the steamroller victory. Currently reversing that, among other minor changes which...

Re: Resurection of Wesnoth Campaign
One may remember the description for a mage saying that those that seek magical knowledge as a means to power often lack the necessary convictions to use it. Personally, I say that knowledge is power. I think this is meant to imply that magi have to actually be interested in the knowledge as an end...

Re: Heir to the Throne rant/idea suggestion
@Jozrael Eh, I never saw Konrad as evil - he was just a pawn of the elves, and properly rewarded as such. I think the suggestion Joram made about not making it 100% clear from the beginning that the narrator thinks Konrad is the real thing would work, but this will of course need an actual storyboar...

Did you wmllint it first?Glowing Fish wrote:Well, I opened this up under 1.6, and so far what happens is the wrong line of dialogue gets read, and then I lose as soon as I kill an enemy unit...
So, I guess I have some editing to do! I hope to figure out the new WML and get it up on the campaign server soon.

Re: Heir to the Throne rant/idea suggestion
(Too long; not copying) You hit it right on the nail, and indeed I mentioned earlier that I'd like to see HTTT redone to make Asheviere more of a villain. As it is, she's mentioned a bunch, but appears precisely once and has a legitimate reason to fight the army at her gates - it's come to kill her...

Re: DiD Alternative Ending (Tangent)
And as far as I understand it, King Lear is almost totally fictional. As, for that matter, is DiD. While this may well be true - the original source material is, in fact, a mythical Celtic figure - all the legends before Shakespeare had Lear and Cordelia still alive at the end (although Lear died o...

Re: DiD Alternative Ending (Tangent)
I personally think you absolutely should get the chance to kill Dela, the ungrateful [censored] - whether in "Alone at Last" or as a one-shot enemy in "Endless Night". Actually, I'd have it both ways - get the option of seeing a tear-jerking last scene when Malin kills Dela, then...

Re: Heir to the Throne rant/idea suggestion
Not to mention that, once the elves actually saw Li'sar in person, they had a change of heart over who they felt would best carry their agendas to pass. This implies that, as self serving as their agendas might have been, they still saw it in the best interest of the common good that the legitimate...

Re: "Elves are not warlike by nature..." rant (spoilers)
If the humans were truly warlike, they'd train up Mages and keep them around. The implication is that one can advance along any mage line with a kill count of precisely zero (INCLUDING the undead, before you ruin my metaphor :P ) Not to mention Huntsmen and Master Bowmen, who could just target-shoot...

For future reference, those feedback threads are to answer the questions posed in the original posts, not for the airing of opinions on how you feel certain races are portrayed in ways that differ from how you would prefer them to be. Understood; I thought I'd get away with it because it was a legi...
