Re: Intentionally silly campaign: Shameless Crossover Excuse
I believe that it comes from the "mal" prefix in Latin (?), meaning "bad", which has been borrowed into the English language in several words (EG "maledict").
In other words, it's just a way of making them sound a little more evil or unsavory

Re: What are you reading right now?
Currently trying to find my copy of Asimov's Chronology of Science and Discovery...I guess it's in a box somewhere, but heck if I know which one.
I figure it's about time I started rereading it

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again : Daemon Girl
Nice job! I love the wing-caps there. Something about the texture on the lower one feels strange, though, almost as if it were stone...maybe if you smoothed that out a little? @StDrake: if I had a sword, I wouldn't hold it like that pre-swing, period--it would leave me wide open, for one thing. I ha...

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again : Daemon Girl
I dunno as I would say that it's going to break; it is a little thin, but it's believable. Rather, the way the end goes feels strange--the curve makes me expect something a little bit like a scimitar, but it's bending forward, not back. Maybe either have it bend back, or make the forward bend more e...

Re: Art for Bad Moon Rising, again : Daemon Girl
Looking good! I love the hair on the first one there...can't wait to see it shaded c: As well as the somewhat small hands, her left wrist in the first picture is extremely thin, given the necessary thickness of that wristband... Also, I'm not sure if this will disappear with shading, but something's...

Grand Prionailurus?
All up to you, of course. I was just a little disoriented to see a combat unit called a "fisherman"

Ah. I see. Does it store a .team value? I'm having another error with a different ability that would make sense if it didn't...

Re: Unit side error
...that fixed it, zookeeper. Thanks! I guess I need to get used to a variable's name and a variable's value being two different things
For some reason, it generates a Lua error if I use $summoner.side anywhere, but it works just fine with $unit.side, so it's not a big deal in this case.

Re: The User Art Topic
...I walk like that, sometimes... My only comment would be that his elbows feel like they go back a little far--exaggeration is good (we all know that), but it feels extreme even just looking at it. I'm not sure, though, could just be me. Edit: The other possibility is that I'm misreading his arms e...

Re: Unit side error
Thanks, zookeeper; that's gotten rid of the Lua error. Now, though, it thinks that the user never has enough gold--I stuck in a DEBUG_MSG just to check, and $summoner.gold is the right variable, but for some reason it's always registering as being less than GOLD. I tried switching them around, but t...

Thanks for the fast reply!
So, store side isn't working like I think it is? How do I call the side number after I store it?

Unit side error
So, I have an ability which summons a unit--but for some reason, the unit is always on side 1, instead of being on the side of the user of the ability. This code was written for 1.5, and had the problem then, too, but now it also throws up a Lua error saying that get_side has received a string where...

I'm not sure what you're aiming for with the new Sorum'tar, but the new ones feel a little washed out to me...maybe you could bring back the dark capes?
And, I don't even need to say it, that ice dragon looks badass

Re: KISS
Yeah, Wesnoth's application of KISS is rather different from how I'm using it here. Ken_Oh: Mmm--I see what you mean about the bombs. Then again, I never found them to be completely drowned out by the music, and the tension of never knowing when one's gonna fall does add a little to the gameplay. Th...

Just wait until you get to the King. Uh, the King in the Clarke novel, that is.Bellerophon wrote:Finished reading Cell by Stephen King some days ago, now fully busy reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke.
