Re: UMCs with "campaign/strategic map" style solution? Seasons?
There's also A New Order, where the second half of the campaign uses hub maps, but nothing really happens on those. You get some loyal units sometimes and you pick what order you do different scenarios, or even do optional ones, but that's about it.

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
Kzin seems more to be made as dedicated antagonist species to drive the conflict. While Drake seem to be more nuanced to me. Warlike yet wise. is something I agree with for handling drakes. This is an odd thing though. How do immutable biological traits play into being an dedicated antagonist speci...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
Well, you probably can't fault Tolkien for being explicitly misogynistic, but he was a child of his time, wrote of very gender-stereotypical cultures and, additionally, female characters certainly weren't his... strong suit. You mean he wrote of cultures that acknowledged traditional gender roles, ...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
If female drakes are actually barely sentient being, we can go with "breeder", but it has to be stated in the encyclopedia that they are barely sentient. That is, i believe the direction the writer intended to go. If this is the direction taken though, it would probably be more appropriat...

Yes, that is what I meant. I did try to correct myself, but I wasn't sure what was the correct term.Celtic_Minstrel wrote: ↑January 8th, 2020, 1:49 pm Um what. A "sapling" is just a young tree, not some mechanism of reproduction. Maybe you meant to say "cuttings"? (Which isn't exclusive to trees, mind you.)

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
Trees don't reproduce asexually in nature under normal circumstances Many plants, can reproduce asexually if a part of them splits off and grows into a new plant (maybe sapling isn't the correct term). This could occur naturally or by human intervention. Considering that woses are humanoid trees...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
What the hell does this even mean "punching down" and "punching up"? Is that political speak? Wesnoth is a fantasy game in a dark-age-to-medieval type setting and drakes are in no way human, they are dragons. They have reptilian morphology, wings, spit flame and are exclusively ...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
I like the concept of budding but it's hard to do when it comes to something bigger than one cell therefore I think I would rather see soul budding. For example Troll feels that it's that time again and starts searching for big enough rock, then Troll hugs or touches it and gives it part of his sou...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
Its a buzzword. The protagonist might have not been written in an interesting way, but does somebody really fantasise about being a drake leader gifted with females so they can lay him eggs? That's what I meant by "I don't know what that means". I honestly don't think any MAN would seriou...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
But I would say divisiveness is a very subjective reason, in this context it might be valid, but in general, maybe the author doesn't care and wanted the work to be controversial? That being said, the lore about drake females here isnt that big, its not the focus of a campaign. The writer behind th...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
To somewhat break this circlejerk about circlejerking PC culture... I'm sorry, i don't recall ever mentioning "PC culture", or thought policing. If, however, you do none of those things, females are simply there to produce offspring, and nothing of this is self-reflected or actually works...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
An author can make whatever story he/she wants, limited only by the quality of writing, application of concepts and internal consistency, an argument that portraying a certain idea=endorsing it is far fetched, the story is fiction so maybe the author wanted to portray a world where certain attitude...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
EDIT: I do note, however, that it is best to not make anything that could be offensive to players of the game (but that should be a consideration for change rather than a reason for removal). :) I like to believe players are more mature than that. I can understand holding back on something that is ...

Re: Wings of Victory 1.0.5 (Drake Campaign for BfW 1.14/1.15)
The idea that modern European morals should be applied to fantasy creatures who are not even humans does not make any sense to me. That is my opinion as well. Not only are the drakes not human, there was an entire thread spawned by this one discussing whether or not they eat members of other sentie...

Re: BT attempts portraiting
Also that voidhunter definitely doesn't look terrible! It doesn't have the same formidableness as the male version but I can easily see what you were trying to depict! It's not about how they look, it's about the coloring the bright spots are too bright, too rough and too desaturated, while the dar...
