Re: Wesnoth population
Someone can hypothesize what is the population size of Wesnoth in numbers ? How much is the total population ? Like, how many humans inhabit the continent ? How many Dwarves ? How many Elves ? How many Orcs ? Goblins ? And so on, of course it would be an very average thing, because many are born an...

Re: game crashing at building map saving
I'm not very experienced in this sort of thing, but special characters (É) and spaces in filepaths aren't often a good thing.
Can you load add-ons? Because it's probably not a directory problem if you can, as they're stored in (mostly) the same path as maps.

Re: Too many campaingns have you fighting orcs/undead.
It seems to me that there are 3 kinds of necromancers: The stereotypical evil-megalomaniac (muff malal), the 'evil means to a good end' necromancer (malin keshar), and the 'the dead follow me willingly' necromancer (delfador). Type 1 is chaotic evil; they will do anything or slay anyone to get what ...

Re: Random terrain in MP
I haven't tested any of this, but it might be of use. #Change a specified area to a terrain type [set_variable] name=random_dummy rand=1..8 [/set_variable] [switch] variable=$random_dummy [case] value=1 [terrain] [filter] #Filter [/filter] terrain=#Code to change it to [/terrain] [/case] #Add more [...

Re: Freaken Zombies everywhere
I just think it would be nice to change them somehow... Changing something or the sake of changing it makes no sense. Wouldnt it make more sense to give soulless another level? that way in 1v1s where lvl 3 is very rare anyway a soulless would be a good unit to give xp to... WCs already don't level ...

Re: Freaken Zombies everywhere
Well, I know I'm not the best player in the world, but I personally like to use WCs on defense. They are dirt cheap, and are very good at slowing down units, even if they have no ZoC. I also use them when fighting things weak to impact (ie undead and kaliphate.) In any case, they are a specialist un...

Re: Dark Magic Users: Always Evil?
Since there will be drakes, cold damage is a must. Are there any other sources of cold damage from humans? Well, against Drakes, Poachers are also quite effective, as are Spearmen. But if you want cold damage, look elsewhere. I would either make a new unit, make a 'good necromancer', or ally with t...

But it isn't. See the khalifate.Insinuator wrote:Uh, why? If it's only Ranged, Marksman works fine.Drakefriend wrote:And the problem persists nontheless whether or not there is a canonical Melee Marksman attack.

Re: Balancing Age of Heroes
Five days and over fifty views but no replies; I'm mildly surprised. Should I have put this in the ideas forum? Did I manage to avoid saying anything controversial, but also fail to say anything exciting? Or are people simply apathetic about Age of Heroes? Let me attempt to be a little more controv...

Re: Dark Magic Users: Always Evil?
So, looking at the descriptions for the black magic users and their servants, the act of necromancy itself is pretty much impossible to justify in ethical terms. Not necessarily. Skeleton (archers) and WCs are just vessels for necromantic energy. In Delfador's Memoirs, Delfador visits the Valley of...

Re: Storing unit role in a variable
Looks like you're trying to store the original side in the units_role, and that variable will be under the specific unit, not as a stand-alone variable. You probably need to store the unit into a variable like "temp_unit_var", then use $temp_unit_var.units_role instead of $units_role How ...

Re: What is your favourite scenario?
I gotta say, I like "Test of the Clans" from HttT, with an honerable mention going to "The Human Army" from SotBE.
I kind of like Infested Caves, if only because you control hordes (>50) of footpads.

Re: Storing unit role in a variable
I removed the [filter] from the role tag, and it still doesn't appear to be working.
Currently it will remove the ability, and that's it.
Is using roles the best way to acomplish this, or is there some other way?

Re: Storing unit role in a variable
No, that didn't appear to do it. :( Here's my current code: #define ABILITY_CHARMED [dummy] id=charmed name="charmed" female_name= _ "female^charmed" description="Charmed: This unit is momentarily taken over by the Demons. It will return to its origional side at the end of t...
