Re: Nightmares of Meloen faction
I'm slowly coming back to it, a release is expectable for sunday. Sorry for the long period of hibernation.
Edit : there it is, though I didn't do as much polish as I hoped to. Still missing a lot of sounds, descriptions and missile anims.

Re: 1vs1 map
I would suggest that you add a halo image on the runes, in my humble opinion it would make the healing feature more acceptable. For now several campains use runes but I don't recall any of them giving health, so the general convention is rather that standard runes don't heal. Remember on the server ...

Re: Krotop's Courtyard Map 2p: feedback
I tend to agree with Jozrael. I could be wrong on that, but I have the feeling that getting the 2 recruit points close to each other would favor defence, and make a stalematish situation more probable to happen, exactly because the defending leader can quickly swap sides and both recruit and punish.

Re: Winter 2009 - Map Making Contest! UPDATED
Awesome! :D The choice certainly was quite difficult. I think I'd have voted myself for tekelili's, but that'd have been putting aside the other excellent maps of all finalists, all having strong ideas, like the reliable terrain pattern of Quetzacoatl, the audacious concept of F8, the appealing coul...

Re: Are my ideas or Orcish Grunt is overpowered?
We all have our own styleplay, the thing is that a strategy based upon a heavy grunt recruit is good, since the unit is indeed very cost efficient. But as Velensk stated, it's not the only cost efficient unit of the game. If IPS likes to play loyalists, he can quite use the spearmen in the same spir...

Re: So, I see that the luck aspect is controversial...
Luck can't be a "challenge," because challenges are things that you can overcome. You may be able to win despite bad luck, but you'll never actually be able to "overcome," that is to say improve and reverse, your luck. It wasn't "luck" in the literal sense, but a refer...

Re: 2p Courtyard Map by Krotop: reviews
The fact that the columns (27,17) and (27,20) are changed into a long 4-square wall in the north also reduces options for the defender. Thirdly the fact that the attacker can have three spots to attack the village in the north (24,8), makes holding the corresponding hill less attractive. Right, the...

Edit : This is the message FreeAsABeer and dartboy were answering to : I’d felt this message was more appropriate for a pm, but as some people expressed the will that contesters share their thought process for the sake of information, I’ll have them written down there instead. Note that although I h...

Re: Path of Elements era
i just skimmed through the last few posts, so correct me if i'm wrong, but you seem to want a good line breaker/ anti undead for earth/life: why not living earth? a rock golem like that of the wood warriors that has high damage (between 10-2 and 12-2) instead of high resists? And it's can be differ...

Re: Nightmares of Meloen faction
The problem with steadfast is that it would make the quake form too good, so I prefer to be sure the faction needs that defense boost, with more practical testing on MP, before actually doing this change.

Re: Path of Elements era
and you have a high-leveled-emeny nearly killed, and it's day, you can't give the experience to ANY gargoyle right but the faction is chaotic oriented, so you're likely to try to kill at night, and defend and minimize casualties at day. I'm not fond of making a right-click ability just for one unit...

Re: Path of Elements era
To be honest, the troll idea came to my mind when I was looking for a unit concept for earth/life. But I rejected it, because it could not derail too much from the troll of the orc faction or the troll shaman. You can find the former in any local game and the latter on some of the campains. I prefer...

Re: How to play Undead
There is a small informative note at the beginning of the how to play series, but not in each faction thread : MODERATOR EDIT: This guide is now somewhat outdated, as several versions have come and gone. Many of the units (saurians, footpads, dark adepts, others) have had relatively major changes si...
