Re: [Win7,1.11.0]: Crash when loading replay
Just watched that replay of Terror at the Ford again and it already starts to get screwed up around turn 10. There's a Wraith right next to my castle walls, it doesn't attack and my units just ignore it. Well, it didn't exist when I played the game ... Then, around turn 13, it looks like a bunch of ...

[Win7,1.11.0]: Crash when loading replay
Hi, I'm using the binary package of Wesnoth 1.11.0 on the english version of Windows 7 Ultimate and it is silently exiting when loading a replay of Delfador's Memories / Wasteland. Unfortunately, there is no relevant information in stderr.txt, I waited a few minutes after starting Wesnoth before I t...

Re: Scenario Review: THoT 6 - High Pass
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? I played this on the iPad about two weeks ago and just tried again with the latest version on Windows. Both times with the hardest difficulty level. (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) Well, I had huge problems with this wh...

Re: Scenario Review: THoT 5 - Invaders
(1) What difficulty levels have you played the scenario on? 1.10.4, Windows. Hard. I previously also played this on my iPad (also on Hard difficulty) and my gut feeling is that the iPad version is a lot easier - but it's also possible that the bandits simply got lucky. I quit the campaign shortly a...

(1) What difficulty levels and game versions have you played the scenario on? Hard, iPad (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 9, though I played this with minimum gold - I would only give this a 2 if I had more gold because it's really a piece of cake if you have enough troops. (3) H...

Re: Managing gold in campaigns
Well, I just had to learn it the hard way when trying to play "Rise of Wesnoth" on Hard difficulty (on the iPad, don't know which PC version that is). The campaign starts with two really easy scenarios, then the third one is complicated. I read the walkthrough before playing, which says th...

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: The Fall
Started the entire campaign from scratch and now I'm doing much better :D The key to finishing this with decent carry over gold is not to recruit too many units. This time, I played it with three rounds of recruiting, not four and send a fast spearman up to that village in the southern mountain. I d...

Re: The Rise of Wesnoth: The Fall
(1) What difficulty levels and game versions have you played the scenario on? Hard; iPad (2) How difficult did you find the scenario? (1-10) 4; the scenario itself isn't actually that difficult - finishing early is a huge problem. I used the assassination strategy over the SW mountain pass as descr...

Re: Defence strategies? (for the AI)
I'm still very new to this game, but one mistake I've seen a lot already is that the AI does not pay attention to the player's winning condition at all. A simple example is if you have to kill the enemy commander, but none of your troops could reach him within the turn limit if he just stays in his ...

Re: From decent to awesome: using expendable units?
You shouldn't make "challenges" as long as solving them involves abusing save-load. Play with the challenge "no save-loads" on medium, it will be more fun. Your playstyle will then change automatically as you can't waste XP for multiple AMLAs, waste gold for upkeep etc. under th...

Re: From decent to awesome: using expendable units?
I'm still very new to this, and I have the same problem. After a few learning campaigns on easy and medium, I played South Guard, Two Brothers, HttT and Liberty on Hard with mostly lvl 3 units and very few losses. I saw some thread in this forum where someone complained about not being able to keep ...
